Raleigh - Congressman Walter Jones said Thursday he has about 50 co-sponsors on a joint resolution that calls on President Bush to announce by year's end a plan for withdrawal from Iraq.
The resolution introduced in June by Jones, another Republican and two Democrats calls on the president to begin executing the withdrawal by Oct. 1, 2006. It does not set an end date.
"I think that people have finally understood what we're doing," Jones said after a meeting at the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, noting that people have mistakenly thought the resolution was binding.
The initial resolution sponsors are Ron Paul, R-Texas, who voted against the war, and two Democrats who have opposed it, Reps. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio and Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii. Jones said the new supporters include five Republicans.
It is the first such resolution put forth by lawmakers from both parties, although an overwhelming number of Democrats and six House Republicans voted in 2002 against sending troops to Iraq.

If I were in this assclown's Congressional District, I would be advising him of his withdrawal date, from his job.

Don't people get it? Withdrawal from Iraq sends the same message as Isreal's withdrawal from Gaza. That message is: TERRORISM WORKS.

Yes, lots of liberals are in favor of pulling out of Iraq and letting the jihadists turn it into the center of terrorist training such that it would make pre-911 Afghanistan look like a pre-school.
Plus, what a wonderful boost it would give to militant Islam if they could boast that they ran the US out of Iraq. That would certainly send a wonderful message to both our allies and our enemies, would it not?
Now is not the time to pussy out. Now is the time to cowboy up.

Before they can 'stand up' they have to 'wake up'. Well giving these guys a deadline seems to wake them up. Election, Constitution, now a date to defend yourself.

Actually, our enemies seem to be taking considerable comfort from the slow bleed status quo in Irag. This Wilsonian/utopian war was a terrible mistake. Create a "democratic united Iraq?" Huh? Three cheers for Walter Jones and Ron Paul!

Ron Paul is a giant in a sea of Wilsonian pigmies.

In 1942 U.S. military forces began military operations on Guadalcanal, in New Guinea, and in North Africa. Not to mention an aerial bombing attack on the sovereign nation of Japan and unrestricted submarine attacks against noncombatant vessels of that country. I wonder how many congressmen demanded that FDR come up with a fixed exit date for those operations.
I guess congresscritters in 2005 think the holy war declared and waged by radical islam against our country is a figment of our collective imagination and will go away if we just stop acting like it is real.

"Create a "democratic united Iraq?" Huh? Three cheers for Walter Jones and Ron Paul!"That's just the last of any number of reasons. There will be more. Count on it.

Meanwhile Bin Laden roams...we had him cornered in Afghanistan from reports I've heard, but Bush pulled the resources to invade Iraq. The place where Bil Laden was supposedly cornered --did anyone actually see him there?-- was Tora Bora and I believe the Tora Bora fight was taking place in Dec of 2001. The Iraq war did not start until Mar of 2003. Just when did Presdient Bush pull the resources to invade Iraq?

If I get the chance to vote for a conservative Republican, he will be an unemployed libertarian.

Wanna bet? Ron Paul will be reelected overwhelmingly as he was last time and the time before. He is a man of principle (unlike the big government GOP majority) but he is also a superb campaigner. People respect a man who "doesn't go with the flow." Unlike his GOP colleagues, for example, Paul opposed *both* the Kosovo and Iraq wars.

What "job?" Killing every member of the enemy?
To: SmithL
Stupid coward politicians. Announcing a surrender is a better name for it. What's wrong with these people?? This nation has gone soft. Proving every day that they have made this nation a paper tiger. These idiots are doing exactly what our enemies want us to do. When it gets a little tough tuck your tail and head for home. God help this country if they suceed with this insanity.

To the MSM, RINOS and LEFTISTS everywhere that is NOT A PLAN......at least NOT one they want to hear.
