COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Gov. Bob Taft pleaded no contest today to charges that he broke state ethics law by failing to report golf outings and other gifts, News 5 reported.
Taft did not receive jail time. He was fined a total of $4,000 -- the maximum of $1,000 on each of four misdemeanor counts.

Impeachment a possility? Seems like the legislature has plenty of grounds now. He doesn't have supporters in the legislature still, does he?
Resign, Mr. Taft...
See ya!!!!!

Corruption in the GOP dominated state government does not bode well for Republican chances in the upcoming 2006 and
2008 elections in the Buckeye state.
A throw the bums out mentality may turn the state a blue color come result time.If these activities and the Work Comp money scandal were uncovered prior to November 2004 election, would we be Kerry baiters instead of Bushbots?
Wrong doing by our elected officals must be punished regardless of whom is in office.

It's a partisan witch hunt against Gov. Taft. We can now hope and pray that Taft overcomes this fight with the Democrats.
You must be kidding. For six years Taft's middle name was "Ethics". He railed constantly against state employees who violated the rules and demanded they resign if convicted.
What a hypocrite. All he's done over six years is raise taxes time and time again. He needs to go.
