Are you offended? Get over it!
According to the Washington Times, Hanover County, VA officials want to change the name of the annual Dixie Days Civil War commemoration to something else. The reason? Someone might be offended by the name Dixie. Among those that might be offended? Yankees who have moved into the county. And those who can manage to scrape together a relationship, no matter how tenuous, between Dixie, the color gray, the Gray uniforms of the Confederacy, the Confederacy itself, the South with a capital S that rhymes with S and that stands for Slavery.

I think this is very niggardly behavior .. what a bunch of cheap bastards.
Gasp, I hope they don't have a picnic
Does this mean we could get rid of the Dixie Chicks too?
What about Dixie Carter?
It just keeps getting crazier. Lets just rewrite history so there was no war. Just forget the thousands who died on both sides. Pull down all memorials from both sides and go to Gettysburg and bulldoze the battlefield flat and put in a NASCAR race track.
Well, last summer when I was visiting my son in Suffolk, VA, he took me to something called the Suffolk Peanut Festival. Boy, was I offended. It made me think of a certain peanut-brained peanut farmer from Plains, GA.
Actually, it was quite enjoyable. It was during the Presidential campaign, and each party had a booth where they were handing out posters for President Bush and Skerry. There were a whole bunch of people walking around with Bush/Cheney signs. I saw just two people with Kerry/Edwards signs. They sure looked lonely.
Another neat thing was the motorcycle parade. There were hundreds of them of every make and model and type from all over the country. I had never seen so many motorcycles at one time. It was awesome!
PING
The cadre spend three years trying to get me to give a Rebel yell and sing Dixie. (I was cut slack in the fourth year.) I was not offended. It was part of the game.
The South has a lot of pride of their heritage. They paid a big price for that heritage during the Civil War. They fought well in spite of overwhelming odds. The Southerners deserve their pride of heritage.
As a Yankee, I say to these PC liberals, STFU!
This just sets wrong with me. PC sucks!!! Now I have to get the Stars and Bars and put em on my motorcycle jacket and I am a damn yankee!!!
By two seconds.
All together, now, those of us with the audacity to have been born and raised in Dixie and have Confederate kinfolk, let us do penance at the Lincoln Memorial or Jesse Jackson's birthplace. It's high time to check up on our looney bins,it seems there have been a rash of escapes. Now, the politically correct former inmates are trashing our history.
Dixie means SOUTH. Gonna get rid of the word SOUTH next?
Politically correctness has gotten out of hand. History is history and changing the name, dropping the name, hiding behind the closet is not going to change anything. Everybody is walking on eggshells afraid of "offending".
