Stockholm, August 18: A waitress in Sweden thought her elderly customer was joking when he offered her his Porsche as a tip, but he kept his word and gave her the keys to the car, daily Aftonbladet reported on Thursday.
I thought at first he was joking with me, 19-year-old Josefin Justin told the paper.
Justin was waiting tables at the Njuraanger cafe in sundsvall in Central Sweden when the man, who had recently retired and was dining with a group of gentlemen, asked her age.
When she told him, he said I would get his Porsche as a tip.
At first I was a little suspicious but I didnt get the feeling he was hitting on me or anything, he just seemed really nice, she said.
She got his phone number and the next day when she called him, he said he remembered his generous offer. Accompanied by her father, she went to the mans house to pick up her new car.
It turned out to be 1979 Porsche 924 worth 4,000 dollars.
It needs a little work, a paint job among other things, but we checked it out and everything was fine, Justin said.
The man, who asked to remain anonymous, told the paper he could not really explain why he gave her the car.
I was just sitting there in the restaurant and looked her in the eyes and saw an angel and thought to myself the Porsche, she should have it, he said.
Asked if he had any regrets, he replied, no, absolutely not.
He neglected to tell her it needed a brake job, new tranny, alternator, the passenger side power window crapped out a couple of years back...
?....pictures?
...Hmmm...I guess I should be thankful that some inner voice told me not to buy one a few months ago that some guy was selling for $1k. It looked nice - good paint job, interior was pretty good. Rather have one with a rear engine.
THIS is a Porsche!
wow that's some porsche.
LOL! Good business plan. Hmmmm.......
some people really do tip like that. "just because"
i had a guy in a bar i worked at ask me what was the largest tip i had ever made. when he left, he doubled it.
fortunately for me, a few days earlier i had sold a guy 2 bottles of Dom and got a 40% tip on it..
From what I recall, that thing was a real pig. What did it have for an engine? Wasn't it a warmed over Audi 4 banger or something?
I think you are right. Porsche did doll up some of them as 924 turbos with 944 style fender flares. Quite rare.
The 924 was a real black-eye for Porsche though.
Yuck, those are the cheap ones. She should sell if for a few thousand bucks and get rid of a headache. Because that car is going to nickel and dime her forever.
I especially like the tail on this one...
That's when it reached the tipping point.
Yes, and the cars not bad either......*rim shot*
The front Porsche is not bad, either.
Ahem...Porsche is a two syllable word and the "e" is not silent...Por-SCHE
If you can't pronounce the name, you are forbidden from driving one.
I will be in Sweden for two weeks starting Tuesday. I wish this guy had kept the car a little longer and given it to me, so I wouldn't have to rent one. My eyes are rather angelic, too.
Charles...is that you?
