Is it just me, or has the doltish mindless obdurate pig-headed talibanesque fundamentalist moronic fanaticism quota gone up recently? You've just got to love the frequent waving of the 2LOT. Guys who couldn't write down a single LOT come out waving this one as if all those stupid biologists don't know the basics of science and might not just have thought of a high-school level objection. No, it's not just you :-(
I second that sigh. :-(
Also got this in email: (I am a member of APS)
"It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the death on August 17 of APS President-Elect John Bahcall, at the age of 70. John was one of the great masters of theoretical astrophysics."
Rest in peace.

"It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the death on August 17 of APS President-Elect John Bahcall, at the age of 70. John was one of the great masters of theoretical astrophysics." That's sad indeed, he was a great man. I also just read it a few moments ago on PhysicsWeb
Rest in peace.
And I second that.

Thanks, I too have ask for comfort for his family. One thing about death of the flesh is the loss of those left behind, but for the one that passed on, all questions get answered.

The mourning will have to wait; there are nimrods waiting for you to call them naughty names.....

I second that sigh. :-( 79th that.

My condolences to his family and those who knew him for their loss, and to the rest of us for the loss of such a mind.

"It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the death on August 17 of APS President-Elect John Bahcall, at the age of 70. John was one of the great masters of theoretical astrophysics." Tragic, tragic, tragic. I had not heard.
He died of a rare blood disorder, the news outlets say. Why would the Intelligent Designer leave such jack-stupid flaws unfixed? And if some cosmic intelligence is hand-picking who lives and dies (the better to micromanage apparent historical contingency), why would he do something so manifestly counterproductive?

It is due to the efforts of the Discovery Institute. If you track, it every single ID justification comes back to Behe, Dembrenski and the others there just pumping this junk out. Rush Limbaugh's brother had the same tired arguments on his column today, (from the same cast of characters.) This is a very tiny community of "so-called scientists" that are determined to inject their belief systems into the compulsory government schools and, as a result, destroy science.

I was unfamiliar with the name beforehand, but now that I've read up a bit regarding Mr. Bahcall it is a very sad loss indeed.
