What about a Rice-Allen Ticket in 2008?
You heard it here first!
Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice has great name recognition, solid foreign policy credentials, and a brilliant mind. Former Virginia Governor and current Senator George Allen has a solid conservative foundation, a friendly outgoing personality, and plenty of leadership experience. Rice would strip a lot of black and women's votes from the Democrat ticket; Allen would pull in the conservatives. This is a ticket that could beat Hillary Clinton. This is a ticket that would keep the Democrats out of the White House for eight years with Rice as President, then another eight as Allen ran to replace her. The added benefit is that HRC would be out of serious politics permanently.
Early indications are that Republicans would support Rice.
Allen-Rice '08
That's better.....
I want a pun ticket. Brown/Rice Minute/Rice Instant/Rice Jasmine/Rice. We need to groom a politician with a good name to go with hers.
One statement about the second amendment and you think she would suddenly get an A+ from the NRA and the GOA? She does believe in gun ownership....and gun control.
Hear hear - it would completely tear the minority vote away from the Dem's. It's already been happening - the Dem's propaganda on African American radio stations is starting to ring hollow, and, just imagine it - the Republicans' ran the first black woman for president - the Dems would lose all credibilitiy as the "defenders of the minorities". And they couldn't use the racism thing anymore. All their greatest propaganda lines gone. It'd certainly greatly advance the Dem's departure the way of the Whigs. I for one would campaign for Condi as I did for George in Ohio.
I am one of Allen's biggest fans, and out of my 2008 faves, he is the most likely to be the next prez.
Condi should go back to California and challenge The Baglady in the next senate elections!
It's the boots he is in love with ! ;-)
LOL, you are probably right, she is older than his mother however! LOL
I've been predicting for almost a year now that George Allen is going to be the GOP nominee in 2008. Nothing that has happened in that time has led me to change my mind. In fact, I think he's solidified his spot at the top of the list of potential contenders.
I agree with you.
But could they get along?
lmao!
You're not the only Allen fan here
I don't know. Sitting senators have a very poor record in presidential elections, although a race between two senators will cancel out that stat.
From what little I've heard about Allen, I definitely like him, but I still believe Condi would make a better candidate. I'd take her over McCain by far, even if I have to write her in during the primary.
That'll work too. Still pledge to leave my job to work for that ticket as well.
It'll come down to 'Party Trumps Person' when the match-up becomes (R) vs. (d) anyway, as very eloquently expressed by talk show host Mike Rosen of 850 KOA here in Denver, Why Party Still Trumps Person
Just imagine, if your brain doesn't implode with a few nanoseconds first, after a Hillary presidency they will have to name a US aircraft carrier after her... the USS Hillary Clinton. Do YOU need any more motivation to become passionately involved with the grass roots effort to elect a Republican, whomever the candidate is, in 2008.
I agree that this could be a winning combo. A recent Iowa poll showed Condi on top for Republicans. If she ran she would have the backing of the Bush and the White House, and paired with a solid Conservative like Allen would help secure the base. Rice on top of the ticket would splat any talk of HRC being the first woman president and make her face issues. It would be a choice between a the liberal Clinton vs a moderate/conservative in Rice instead of a woman vs a man.
For what its worth, I don't think the 'Rats are going to nominate Hitlery.
people like Condi more than McCain because Condi is not a rat. She is a beacon of class in this tabloid world. I'd support her as a Veep on most any solid conservatives ticket, and I'm as conservative as they come
I'd vote for Rice for President before any of the other Pubs running for Prez...
