Japan's Atomic Bomb
History Channel | August 16,2005

Posted on 08/16/2005 6:24:55 PM PDT by Yasotay

Robert Wilcox deserves the Pulitzer Prize in History for his excellent book "Japan's Secret War". The History Channel just had an excellent show called "Japan's Atomic Bomb". I encourage everyone to watch this show (It repeats in a couple of hours). Wilcox and the History Channel uncover new evidence showing just how far the Japanese really got with their Atomic Bomb. Everyone needs to understand that North Korea has it's own natural supply of uranium and that effects every American even today.

I watched it. The Japanese actually denotated their own bomb a week after Nagasaki. If they had another 2 months, they would have dropped one on us.

So they can spare us the flowers in the water and weeping on every anniversary from now on. The truth is out.

I saw that ... did I hear correctly that the Japanese actually exploded a test nuke on August 12th, 1945 just days after Nagasaki? If so, that is real explosive stuff (consider the pun a bonus).

Everybody needs to understand that man in his sin-sick prideful state cannot stop himself from destroying all life on this planet. The good news is this isn't his planet to destroy, and the Creator is going to "reverse the curse" on the human race through Christ's atonement, and turn it into the Edenic paradise it was intended to be.

I don't believe it.

Interesting--thanks, Yasotay. First I've ever heard that Japan was actually making progress on developing a nuke.

I see more & more parallels between our current enemy and the WWII Japanese enemy--fanaticism, suicide ops, torture & beheading of prisoners, no regard for civilian populations--and now even the pursuit of atomic weapons.

The encouraging thing is that as fanatical as the Japanese were then, they are pretty normal now. Here's hoping we derive the same outcome with our current enemy.

On the invasion fleet, more likely, and perhaps not "dropped".

If the bomb was big enough, they may not have had a
plane that could carry it. They'd probably have used a
suicide sub.

I caught the last few minutes of that show, and had never
heard any of it before. Too bad they couldn't have aired
it 2 weeks ago, and torpedoed the usual annual hand-
wringing about Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I would have to see some factual data and verification. As astounding as this claim is, I am sure there would have been plenty of coverage and ongoing debate about this. Since there has been nothing, I highly doubt the Japanese tested a nuke. Please, if you find facts and verification, please ping me. THX

There is a claim Japan did manage to test an atomic device. We'll probably never know the truth about how close Japan was to building the bomb, because the Soviets picked the site of Japan's North Korea lab clean. However, there probably is evidence that would prove whether or not the test took place, but one has to penetrate North Korea first...

"If they had another 2 months, they would have dropped one on us."

Yeah, they could have let it drift in via helium ballon.

The show, by the way, tried to make the point that
although the test (if it happened) was successful,
it was "just a test".

So was Hiroshima. The implosion-type bomb used in
Nagasaka was tested (the Trinity test). The gun-type
bomb used on Hiroshima was not. Hiroshima WAS the test.
If the Japanese had enough refined uranium, they could
have built a gun-type bomb quite easily.

I've read the book, which is fascinating and eye-opening. Wilcox makes VERY heavy use of original-source material for his conclusions ... but the material he relies on is still pretty swiss-cheesed, thanks to a concerted effort by the Japanese in destroying wartime documents prior to the formal surrender and occupation. It's hard to say that his conclusions are correct, but I think it's impossible to say that they definitely aren't.

Maybe that is what the show says...but I will have to see hard proof of such a statement before I would believe it in the least.

If the Ja[anese had had one...they would have used it. The test would have been on our forces.

Just like the terrorists. If and when they get one, they will use it.

I'm afraid you have missed the meeting by about 497 years; on April the 2nd (and not on the 1st as some malicious people would have it) 1508 in Florence "there were many preachers, who for the most part announced great tribulations, and the renovation of the Church, and much was spoken about the emperor..." Yep. You were scheduled for the tribulation/renovation part - and you have missed it!
