H.O.T. Chapter of FR Heading Back to Crawford (Special 8/17 PM Update pending)

The Heart of Texas Chapter is planning a return to Crawford on Saturday, August 27. Our purpose this time will be to team up with the Move America Forward Caravan, which will originate in California, and pick up supporters from across the country. More can be found about Move America Forward here:MAF

We hope that with this much advance notice, more Freepers will be able to join us this time.

I have spent most of the day trying to contact someone at MAF, but they are so busy they haven't gotten back to me yet. However, it shouldn't be hard to notice a caravan of buses and cars in Crawford, so we will be able to jump in with them with no problem.

I spoke with Police Chief Donnie today, and he really seemed happy to hear that we were coming back. We won't need a permit this time, as we will be a tag on to the MAF permit.

Everyone with suggestions for signs, tactics, etc. please chime in. This will be another Support the Troops Rally--but MAF will probably get in a little Sheehan bashing--which is fine with me!

Hi folks,

I'm a Central Texas fire fighter / vet assisting with organization.

You can expect fire fighters and friends to provide the BBQ.

We are cooking brisket and have ordered the sausage.

I have a fire fighter with a wonderful voice signed up to sing.

We have a fire fighter who recently lost his twin brother in spec ops combat operations. We will honor his brother he will be speaking.

We will have EMT / Paramedic teams on hand.

Look forward to seeing you out there.

I'd like to share a story with you folks.

I'm a fire fighter here in central texas. One of my fellow fire fighters lost his twin brother during Special Forces combat ops in Iraq.

We will be memorializing Master Sergeant Robert M. Horrigan in Crawford on Saturday and John Horrigan will be speaking.

John Horrigan feels very strongly about the service and sacrifice of his brother. He believes the way to honor our troops is to support the mission and for us to be victorious in the war on terror. John entered the service with his brother and served as a US Army Ranger.

This is how the discription read in the hand out at the funeral.

MASTER SERGEANT ROBERT M. HORRIGAN

Master Sergeant Robert (Bob) Horrigan was born January 13th 1965, in Limestone, Maine. Robert graduated in 1984 from Crockett High School in Austin, TX. He then enlisted in the US Army graduated and served in the 3rd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment at Ft. Benning, Ga. In 1991 he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborn), Ft. Bragg, NC. His last assignment was with the US Army Special Operations Command. Robert had completed tours in Afghanistan and in Iraq. Master Sergeant Horrigan's awards and the decorations included the Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device and oak leaf cluster, Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the 6th award of the Army Good conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with bronze service star, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Campaign Medals, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the NATO medal, the Ranger Tab, the Special Forces Tab, the Combat Infantry Badge the Expert Infantry Badge, Military Freefall Jumpmaster Badge, the Master Parchutist Badge, and the Combat Diver's Badge.

Robert was posthumously awarded the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device and the Purple Heart.

MSG Robert Horrigan died in Iraq on June 17th, 2005 "Bringin' it to'em!" Robert was the best of the best serving his country while protecting everyone's right to life and liberty. This was Robert's fifth and final tour to Iraq. He was to return home in July and retire in April 2006. "Every man dies but not every man truly lives..." Robert truly lived--for family, for nation, and for the guys next to him.

Robert was an avid outdoorsman and loved turkey and deer hunting, as well as fishing. He was an aspiring Bladesmith. His knives are cherished by many throughout the world.

I'll stop there.

Central Texas Fire Fighters are looking forward to serving up some grub.

Hope you can make it to Crawford

FF, you are doing a tremendous job for us--offering your help, and the help of your firefighting buddies to make our event in Crawford the best it can possibly be.

Guys like you and your buddies make me proud to be an American! Thanks seems so little to say.

FF has omitted to mention everything he and his buddies are doing--the list is very long.

Here is an email I just recieved from Iraq. I've got the word out about what is happening. I hope we have time to read some of these letters from soldiers and family.

I am a 22 year veteran firefighter from Irving Texas and as you may be able to tell I am in the MID EAST away from my wife and babies and regular job. Jane Fonda, Joan Baez and all the other peace at any price people are crawling out from under their broke down VW buses in an attempt to make the USA out to be a bad guy for.

Getting rid of a guy that attacked his neighbors without cause in a blatant land grab.

Getting rid of a guy that gassed innocent women and children because he was threatened by them.

Getting rid of a guy that allowed his sons and men to rape, torture and kill for their own enjoyment and advancement.

This guy filled the harden aircraft storage buildings in Kuwait with dead bodies of the Kuwait leadership.

Is there any doubt in your mind that Hitler or Saddam would have used any means nessecary to destroy anyone that stood in his way?

Was it bad to get rid of Hitler and occupy Germany for 50 years to ensure a safe Nation for our children?
Do not sit by and let the Hippy freaks win this one.

I am actually at Fort Hood with my husband, he is in the Army. I mentioned to him gettting some troops to go out to Crawford, and he told me they can't. While on active duty, soldiers are not allowed to participate in any kind of protest, no matter if it is in support of them or not.
But I will be there!!!!

I'm going to try to make it to Crawford. I hope to hear these inspiring stories. If the OLD MEDIA is doing their job (and they won't be), maybe others will hear it too.

I hope you guys have a red bucket set out for donations for the BBQ. It would be nice to give the proceeds to the family of Master Sergeant Robert M. Horrigan.

God bless you all.

Click on my name, and go to my web page. Click on the Lone Star you will see there. That should take you to the Texas FR web page, which is where the Houston Area Freepers can be found. You should be able to post a message to them.

Glad you cleared that up. I've been confused with all the BDUs. We used to wear Class A khaki in the summer or Lincoln green Class A summer or winter weight. I gave up after the military started wearing sweaters as part of their Class A's

It still might suck to be him though, depending on if he has reduced the clutter on the road or increased it.

As could have been predicted, he's increased it. They are still on the road, and are using his acre for a big tent, where the overage hippies and yippies and what have you relieve their lost youth. (I can say that with some authority, because I'm in the same age group and didn't care for them the first time around).

Bring him along, that's just not true. They can't come in uniform, and they can't speak for anyone but themselves. They also can't endorse any politician or party, because that is partisan activity which they are forbidden by law from engaging in, as IIRC, are all federal civil servants Other than that their first amendment rights are intact. Have him call over the JAG office and get the straight skinny.

What can we do for you?
I'm kind of getting ready packing for Crawford, folding flags and whatnot,
but much smarter people than me are in charge of the Houston site! ;-)

Phil is stationed at Ft. Hood and is scheduled to leave active duty in the spring of 2006. He is going to be at the rally for sure based on an email that I received back from him earlier today.

I like the picture of Cindie with the Arafat head gear. That would look good on a poster.
