Antiwar protester Cindy Sheehan who is camped in Crawford, Texas demanding a meeting with President Bush over the death of son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, in combat in Iraq has surrounded herself with groups that have endorsed the so-called Iraqi resistance.
Last June, groups opposed to the American-led war to depose the regime of Saddam Hussein gathered in Istanbul to hear testimony before a 'jury of conscience' on charges of war crimes and violations of international law by the United States.
Endorsers of the statement issued by the World Tribunal on Iraq at the end of the conference include Code Pink Women for Peace, United for Peace and Justice and Veterans for Peace; while not a named endorser, Tim Goodrich, co-founder of Iraq Veterans Against the War , testified before the tribunal against his country.
Representatives of these four groups have been at Sheehan's side since she arrived in Crawford August 5.
The lengthy statement issued by the tribunal contains several statements legitimizing the so-called Iraqi Resistance. One reads, "It is the brutality of the occupation that has provoked a strong armed resistance and certain acts of desperation. By the principles embodied in the UN Charter and in international law, the popular national resistance to the occupation is legitimate and justified. It deserves the support of people everywhere who care for justice and freedom."
Another statement by the tribunal denounces the January election in Iraq and the new constitution being constructed by the Iraqi parliament:"Any law or institution created under the aegis of occupation is devoid of both legal and moral authority. The recently concluded election, the Constituent Assembly, the current government, and the drafting committee for the Constitution are therefore all illegitimate."
Code Pink Women for Peace, United for Peace and Justice, Veterans for Peace and Iraq Veterans Against the War, despite what they tell the media in Crawford, are not peace groups. They have taken sides against America and stand with the terrorists killing American soldiers in Iraq. Cindy Sheehan, grieving mother of a fallen G.I., stands with those who stand with our enemies.
She's ready to fire up the ovens.
So she was involved at least in August of 2004, right?
I wish we could place her with these people earlier.
Probably about the time F9/11 came out and a clarion call was sent out by the left looking for mothers of soldiers that would speak out against Bush. Remember, 2004 was an election year. This is just remnants of that, reinvigorated somehow.
Yeah. I am a southpark conservative, but not that southpark!!!
???? ... I'm confused about what you mean .. this convention was just 2 weeks ago
It was their bus that she drive down to Crawford in
Although it is clear from her own words that she was anti-Bush and anti-war before the death of her son, after his death and after a compassionate meeting with our President, she was trained for several months by a far left PR firm. She is being supported and egged on by the most virulent anti-Ameircan and anti-Bush groups. After all of this, she comes out with her hate-filled story against the President, spouting all of the far left taking points, and using her grief as a tool of the far-left, anti-American crowd. It is a perversion and desecration of grief that should outrage all Americans.
This is a contrived, made for MSM, event, that the far left and their MSM abettors feel is unassailable becuase of the grieving mother image. Well, hainvg lost my own father last year, and a brother last year too (not in the war), and having lost an only uncle on my Mom's side (my grandparents only boy) in WW II...I can empathize with her grief...but when that grief is turned to hate America and a tool for those who wish to destroy our nation and life style...I will not, I cannot be quiet about it or buy-into that Cindy Sheehan is somehow unassailable while she spouts this hate and garbage.
It is despicable what is happening and it needs to be put down...or at the very least, stood up four-square to.
This lady has admitted to wanting to defy US law and drive her enlisted son to Canada to escape his orders. She has admitted to offering to drive over is legs with her automobile to help him avoid service. Her patriotic son refused both of her dish and voluntarily re-upped with the military to go to Iraq, then while there, volunteered for a dangerous combat mission to help his comrades. He was killed on that mission and is a hero. Pardon the expression, but she is tinkling on his grave and trying to tell us that the moisture are her tears. She says our President killed her son, that the war is only about oil, that it only about defending Israel, that our nation is not worth dieing for, that the US and our President are the terrorists for heaven's sake!
No, I will not be quiet and will call this exactly what I see that it is...a sham and a disgusting spectacle.
Sorry...I am very worked up about this.
Here's my open letter to Cindy Sheehan.
But she was talking about last year's convention, right? When they read the first poem?
She was in a 507 ad as well, I think by moveon.org.
She is talking about May 4 .. not August
Oh and that poem is on her website
God bless that military mom from Oklahoma. We do indeed support our troops.
Okay....May 4, 2004.
Now I'm going to look FURTHER back.
I mentioned that I had read that some of the troops at Fort Hood were trying to get a memorial for Casey...the 1st Cav.
I think I read about it on the LIVE thread Saturday...do you remember reading anything about it on that thread?
What is this pathetic woman doing to the tremendous beliefs and patriotism and sacrifice, ULTIMATE SACRIFICE of this young man?
Imo, she is a monster, NOT a mother.
Do you still consider Sheehan to simply be a grieving mother who has been manipulated by the left, or, after having been able to digest all this additional information about her, do you now find her to be something a bit more than that?
BTW.....you've been doing a brilliant job in confronting this ugly matter.
I do seem to remember hearing about it...or reading it. Centexan, you know anything about an individual memorial for Casey Sheehan by the 1st cav from Ft. Hood?
"took a 2 hour bike ride on Saturday, and when he got back, he was asked how he could go for a two hour bike ride when he doesn't have time to meet with me, and he said: "I have to go on with my life." (Austin Statesman, August 14) WHAT!!!!!????? He has to get on with his life!!! I am so offended by that statement. Every person, war fan, or not, who has had a child killed in this mistake of an occupation should be highly offended by that remark. Who does he think he is? "
uh ... Cindy he is the President of the United States of America. Who the heck are you?
Kristinn, thanks for your work with the Crawford Freep and for everything you do to support our country, our troops and our President. Congrats to all who pulled together the Crawford freep so quickly...and to all who attended and participated....basil, Dr. Raoul, jeffhead and everyone else. Thanks from all of us who wanted to be there but couldn't make it this time.
Did they oppose Bosnia?
