This time, Rush Limbaugh wants to help Donovan McNabb, not criticize him.
Limbaugh, who once said the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was overrated because the media wanted to see a black quarterback succeed, wants to help McNabb and wide receiver Terrell Owens settle their differences on his radio show.
"I am here to offer and to assist. I can," Limbaugh said on his nationally syndicated radio show Friday, according to a transcript on his Web site. "I could bring these two guys together. I've been there, folks, and I could do this, and I'm serious in my desire to do it."
Owens has been unhappy with the Eagles over his contract and took some of his frustration out at McNabb, calling the quarterback a hypocrite and saying the two of them could not be successful together.
McNabb insisted he wasn't stung by the criticism, laughing off the outrageous receiver's remarks before turning serious and telling Owens to "keep my name out of your mouth."
...
Now Limbaugh wants to help mediate, inviting both Eagles to appear on his show.
"This rift cannot be allowed to continue, ladies and gentlemen. It just can't, and I would like to offer this program as a means of getting these two Americans and star players back together," Limbaugh said. "They may not want to talk to each other face-to-face, but perhaps they would join me on this program and speak to each other telephonically via this program and settle this."
Please Limbaugh, focus on politics. Screw the Beagles.

For all his money and all his fame, I think his true ambition is to be an NFL commentator a la John Madden.
Geez, you'd think ESPN had better things to report about coming sport events, then to give Rush a hit on their website! Who said ESPN wasn't biased? mmmm...I'm beginning to wonder! The all knowing and all power Rushbo strikes again! I love it!
Rush's focus has always been entertainment, not politics. He just ends up doing a lot politics because liberals are so dang funny.
NFL Ping

Sigh. He's with the wrong L.A. Jewish chick...
"Ooops, that should say the all powerful Rushbo"
El Rushbo the all knowing, all feeling, all careing loveable little fuss ball.
Please Limbaugh, focus on politics.

It sounded to me that Rush was saying it tongue-in-cheek but in the event that both desire to come on Rush's show, he will take advantage of it as an entertainer. In addition, Rush was demonstrating how much he knows about the intricacies of NFL contracts and how the NFL franchises contract with their players.
Rush comments on politics and, to a certain extent, pop culture and this is a pop culture issue. The man is brilliant...not too many political analysts/commentators understand sports to the degree that Rush does.
In the New York Times it would be under the left nad of course
You know, I love that man like if he were my brother and I hate to see him smoke. I worry that he'll get cancer, or worse croak at an early age. I had a good friend of mine, Ruthie, who's hubby smoked up a storm in the house, she died of lung cancer and her hubby blamed himself for her death. He quite smoking after that. Too bad he did after her death....sigh, I miss her, she was only 45!
Rush only smokes cigars, I believe. My understanding (as a non-smoker) is that cigar smoking is qualitatively different from cigarette smoking and far less likely to cause cancer. Am I wrong?
I heard this on the show yesterday and I still thin it's a joke the media isn't getting yet.
I know that I would hate to see Rush under the weather. At least cigar smoking is not as bad for you as cigarettes.
Limbaugh knows less about politics than he does about professional sports. Which is part of why his show is so darned dull.
