PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: While the President, First Lady and the dogs were relaxing at their ranch today two pieces of blog-related news surfaced having nothing to do with his stance on speaking with Iraq War protesters, or his polices, or whether or not Judge Roberts will be confirmed. This news is considerably less political.
You see, The President is now doing one of the hippest things on the planet -- the President is podcasting!
In the meantime, a hoax claiming that the President and a number of his administration officials had been indicted became the #1 search term on the blog indexing service Technorati today. This is an example of a new form of political war -- the netwar -- and fellow FReepers should be aware of the ease with which such disinformation can be cooked up and spread. There is no real news, but activists are able to perform culture disinformation and jamming activities which exploit inherent vulnerabilities in search engines.
THE WEEK AHEAD: There were only a few WH press briefings this week, and none yesterday. So no scheduling info is available today.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: From the Presidential Radio Address, Saturday, August 13, 2005:
The recent violence in Iraq is a grim reminder of the brutal nature of the enemy we face in the war on terror. Our mission in Iraq is tough because the enemy understands the stakes. The terrorists know that a free Iraq in the heart of the Middle East will be a crippling blow to their hateful ideology. And that is why our work in Iraq is a vital part of the war on terror we're waging around the world.
This war on terror arrived on our shores on September the 11th, 2001. Since that day, the terrorists have continued to kill -- in Madrid, Istanbul, Jakarta, Casablanca, Riyadh, Bali, Baghdad, London, and elsewhere. The enemy remains determined to do more harm. The terrorists kill indiscriminately, but with a clear purpose -- they're trying to shake our will. They want to force free nations to retreat so they can topple governments across the Middle East, establish Taliban-like regimes in their place, and turn the Middle East into a launching pad for attacks against free people.
The terrorists cannot defeat us on the battlefield. The only way they can win is if we lose our nerve. That will not happen on my watch. Withdrawing our troops from Iraq prematurely would betray the Iraqi people, and would cause others to question America's commitment to spreading freedom and winning the war on terror. So we will honor the fallen by completing the mission for which they gave their lives, and by doing so we will ensure that freedom and peace prevail.

What an incredible anti protest. Fox has been showing it. Al Jezeera has been touting it. If that doesn't show that Cindy is anti-American, what does?

President Bush throws out the first pitch at a Little League Baseball Southwest Region championship game between boys from Lafayette, La. and Bryant, Ark. at Marvin Norcross Stadium in Waco, Texas, Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005. The Bushes are spending the month at their ranch in nearby Crawford, Texas. The teams are vying for the chance to play in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., next weekend.
Hey, that is wonderful, the President throwing the first pitch for the Little League game! Those boys and their parents will always remember this. Thanks for getting the picture for us STARWISE. We have a great president.
Now if I only knew how to post mp3's I could get ya to the other one! :o)
I know what you mean. I can't imagine how it must hurt Laura, his daughters, parents and the rest of his family when he is so maligned by the MSM and the likes of Cindy Sheehan. I know it hurts me when I see and hear those lies. We all know what an incredibly compassionate and decent man he is.
May God bless our President! What a fine man he is!!
What a treat to see you come by and say hi. I did notice someone posted a photo of the President throwing out the first pitch tonight. I'll be sure to check for any more and put them on tomorrow's Dose update.
Hehehehehe...isn't that a cool photo? When we see the antics of people like that Sheehan witch, all we need do to regain our composure is to look at the historical record since Ronald Reagan and his political heir began changing the landscape of electoral politics.
Thanks for adding all those great photos to this thread, CA. I can never get enough of seeing how GWB and the American people interact -- well, the American people with their heads screwed on straight, that is. As for the others, pfffttttt!
Hi, DrDeb. I'm so glad you enjoyed this thread, and thanks for the link to the counter-protest thread.
Now this is who the President needs to meet with.
Thanks again.
Hi, dmd25. Good to see you here. Because of what happened just a few hours later, those photos taken of the President early in the morning are rarely seen. I just happened to stumble on it while Googling for 2004 campaign photos.
Seen through the lens of history, it's a very poignant photo. He was in the final hours of what, up until that day, was just another presidency in the passing parade of American history. And then the world changed.
You're welcome, jtill. Can't tell you how happy it makes me that people enjoy these themed retrospectives so much. Sure helps to fill the dog days of summer. :-)
Hi, STARWISE. Thanks for putting the first-pitch photo up. What a thrill for those little league kids and their parents. Any word on whether the pitch was a strike?
Good evening, OWF. So glad you could make it online to see this thread. What do you think of that early morning photo of the President on 9/11/01, taken a few hours before the attacks? Much to see in that photo now that we have the lens of history to look through. For one small thing, I noted how much darker his hair was.
You're very welcome.
The people who feel this way about the President and Vice President DO have ulterior motives, and can't believe that not everyone does.
I know what you mean .. I love that type of picture too.
Amazing. Those that doubt the value of cable/dsl...I left for dinner/movie slightly after 9 PM. Opened the Dose.
Returned at 1:15 & it is still loading!! Yes, good old SLOW modem.
and wow what a great collection, wolfstar. Already bookmarked. Thank you - obviously a lot of work & a real treat. Many I never saw (and many I might not see(at least at this settin), depending on how the pix are opened when I post this.
Thank you & we will be enjoying these all weekend at a time when new pix are rare.
