Good evening all.
I have the net until 8pm, when my children will take it over again, so if I catch up on the thread I'll still be reading at 8. Therefore, I have decided to not to catch up, but just to sit my butt down on the couch to say hi.
How's everyone?
How's 'bout you?
Hiya fanfan!
We're hot and tired. We hope to go to bed soon!
You'se in da same boat as me. My last post was back around 3800, or so. Then the weekend hit, and I been real
busy after that. I didn't bother to "read up", just a scan and here I am.
On the upside, my PeopleSoft number is safe until November 2006, so my network access isn't under threat of impending demise.
I've spent the last three days archiving data to ZIP files (3.6GB worth) and copying those to an off-site server via VPN connection (read: slightly faster than ftp). If I'd been thinkin' I would've bought a an external, USB 2.0 dual-layer DVD burner, forged a pair of DVD's and filed an expense report.
Hi fanfan. I'm doing fine. How are you?
Hi, fanfan! When you wrote that I was still on my home from work, with a stop to say hi to the goodwife who is an "elections inspector" today -- which means she's in charge of the polling place. Ten or so precincts, setting up the machines et al, and in 20 minutes shutting down, making sure the books and ballots are all in good order and accounted for (no crooked Seattle we-make-Chicago-look-like-pikers election shenanigans are going to take place on her watch!).
How're you? Things cooled off any?
sorry I missed you, fanfan.
all,
walp... I decided to do the final lamination step like the Japanese do/did it: binding with high-test string and then hammering wedges in to force the curve (aside from clamping the belly to the riser - too many curves in a tight spot to use wedges)
I have done the top arm of the stave.
that took about 20 minutes of frantic work.
that's pushing things right to the [expletive]ing edge of Gorilla Glue's "working time", but it looks like I have a nice tight joint and a good curve.
my fingers have string-tears in them, and I have spots of glue all over my hands that only time or abrasives will remove.
gah.
I'm taking a breather before doing the lower arm.
howz tricks?
fine.
