In our continued effort to bring music themes that you want, we continue this week with our Canteen voted thread of One Hit Wonders!

This list was compiled from various sources. Some of you may disagree with an artist showing up in our One Hit Wonders list, but that's okay. We're not here to state that we are the authority on such matters. We're here to enjoy some music from popular artist (although, not popular for long) of their respective music eras.

There are many artists/songs that are considered One Hit Wonders. However, we don't have all day and night to list them. We've gotta sleep now and again! Hehehe!

The Ides of March were active in the early 70's and had two major hits, "Vehicle" and "Superman" both written by Jim Petrick who was later the catalyst behind the band Survivor. He wrote "Eye of The Tiger".

Life In A Northern Town
~ Dream Academy ~

This British pop trio emerged in the mid-'80s as one of the leading lights of the psychedelic revival movement. The group was led by vocalist/guitarist Nick Laird-Clowes, a former member of the short-lived Act; also comprised of multi-instumentalist Kate St. John (an alumna of the Ravishing Beauties) and keyboardist Gilbert Gabriel. Dream Academy issued their self-titled debut LP in 1985, co-produced by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour. "Life in a Northern Town," an elegy for Nick Drake (the brooding, moody reclusive folk singer who died of a drug overdose) quickly reached the Top 20 of the U.K. charts. It was issued in the U.S. the following year and became a Top Ten hit.

The trio's follow-up single, "The Love Parade," failed to repeat the success of "Life in a Northern Town" and Dream Academy's momentum stalled. After 1987's Rememberance Days quickly dropped from sight, the group went into seclusion. Their 1991 comeback A Different Kind of Weather failed to restore their chart success and Dream Academy promptly disbanded. St. John went on to tour with Van Morrison's show.
