CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush and his motorcade passed the growing camp of war protesters outside his ranch Friday without incident.
As Bush passed on his way to and from a political fundraiser, law enforcement blocked two intersecting roads where the demonstrators have camped out all week. Officers required the group to stand behind yellow tape, but no one was asked to leave.
The motorcade didn't stop.
Cindy Sheehan, the California mother who started the vigil along the road leading to Bush's ranch, held a sign that read: "Why do you make time for donors and not for me?"
It was unclear whether Bush, riding in a black Suburban with tinted windows, saw the demonstrators.
He had said Thursday that he sympathized with Sheehan but believed it would be a mistake to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq.
Sheehan, whose son died in Iraq last year, says she wants to meet with him again they spoke in June 2004 in light of information since then discrediting the war rationale that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
On Friday, Bush arrived before noon at a neighbor's ranch for a barbecue that was expected to raise at least $2 million for the Republican National Committee.
About 230 people were attending the fundraiser at Stan and Kathy Hickey's Broken Spoke Ranch, a 478-acre spread next to Bush's ranch. All have contributed at least $25,000 to the RNC, and many are "rangers," an honorary campaign title bestowed on those who raised $200,000 or more for Bush, or "pioneers," those who have raised $100,000 or more.
Sheehan, 48, of Vacaville, Calif., set up camp last weekend a few miles from Bush's ranch, and the group with her has now grown to more than 100.
ROFL. The MSM still has to make him out as dumb as a box of rocks don't they?!
< There's something unseemly about it but yet, it's hard to openly attack her. >
Oh, I don't know. I'm getting pretty tired of it all, myself. I think I could call her "liar" in public if I met up with her. I'm out of sympathy.
Of course, she didn't have no problem with her son joining the military to get a " FREE EDUCATION ,, paid for by US tax payers " knowing " FULL WELL " that at some time, her son could be called up for action in a war.
Be still my heart!
dying honorably for our nation. It is must drive Cindy( and the DEMS/LIBS ) nuts!
The war was going on before the 2004 election, continues now, and will continue until peace is secured.
The MSM waited all day just so the could get that heartsring-tugging image of a big shiny gas-guzzling motorcade with evil tinted windows rolling past brave little Mrs. Sheehan. I'm surpised she didn't pull a Rachel Corrie and throw herself under the wheels.
I just bought 8 bottles of 2 liters of Coke Cola
From what I have read she has always been anti-war. I agree with others that she is upset with her son for joining up in the first place.
It's not so hard to figure. This lady has obviously always been a 60s holdover fever swamp type. Her way of coping with the death of her son is lashing out at Bush. It gets her lots of self-affirming attention from the "Failure is an option" Left and their fans in the media.
It's the official drink of 'sane people.'
Yep; I'll attest to that. Cattleman's, with their Lamb Fries and T-bone's, has food fit for the table of a King.
We are very proud of him and all of those who are serving now and throughout this great nation's history. He comes from a long line of military service. My dad and his brothers, all six of them, served in the military, and one was killed while serving during WWII.
It's always wonderful to hear from someone who also appreciates our "heroes". :)
It's not often I can be contrary with a Prophet, but we ain't gonna lose.
There more than likely will be further attacks.
But, from what I see among my countrymen, things are much different than when I was young.
I like your tagline. It says much about our adversary in this country. I looked up the scripture and saw there were no parenthesis around "fool" in my KJV. No big deal, but I'm interested in why you use them.
On DU, they have a "Boycott Pepsi" thread. A DUmmie replied-"How can I boycott Coke? I already boycott Pepsi!"
Hmmm...Tab? RC?
