BUSH MOTORCADE PASSES WAR PROTESTORS
YAHOO NEWS ^ | 08/12/2005 | AP

CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush and his motorcade passed the growing camp of war protesters outside his ranch Friday without incident.

As Bush passed on his way to and from a political fundraiser, law enforcement blocked two intersecting roads where the demonstrators have camped out all week. Officers required the group to stand behind yellow tape, but no one was asked to leave.

The motorcade didn't stop.

Cindy Sheehan, the California mother who started the vigil along the road leading to Bush's ranch, held a sign that read: "Why do you make time for donors and not for me?"

It was unclear whether Bush, riding in a black Suburban with tinted windows, saw the demonstrators.

He had said Thursday that he sympathized with Sheehan but believed it would be a mistake to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq.

Sheehan, whose son died in Iraq last year, says she wants to meet with him again — they spoke in June 2004 — in light of information since then discrediting the war rationale that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

On Friday, Bush arrived before noon at a neighbor's ranch for a barbecue that was expected to raise at least $2 million for the Republican National Committee.

About 230 people were attending the fundraiser at Stan and Kathy Hickey's Broken Spoke Ranch, a 478-acre spread next to Bush's ranch. All have contributed at least $25,000 to the RNC, and many are "rangers," an honorary campaign title bestowed on those who raised $200,000 or more for Bush, or "pioneers," those who have raised $100,000 or more.

Sheehan, 48, of Vacaville, Calif., set up camp last weekend a few miles from Bush's ranch, and the group with her has now grown to more than 100.

President Bush has too much class to give them the one-fingered salute appropriate to their America-bashing campaign. I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation.

Funny how they call it "growing" yet manage to omit any numbers.

In fairness they did say "more than 100"-- however to me that means "maybe 10 or 12."

I just realized yesterday where Vacaville was.

To her peers at home, this is "normal" behavior.

We have a cow town in OKC, too. Most of it is businesses catering to ranchers and the cowboy lifestyle including the stockyards, banks, merchants specializing in western wear, a couple of tack shops and some of the best darned steakhouses in the country. I know a 48-year-old crack whore who lives 2 blocks off the main drag up there. Not that this has anything to with the story or anything but I just felt like sharing.

It is important to raise funds because of people like those alngside of the road. Are most of them on vacation? Or are they between jobs? he he I suspect most don't have to worry about a schedule because they're sucking off the government pig teats. Could I be wrong?

"Cindy is simply mad at Casey for defying her and joining the military, then re-enlisting, and then, finally, dying honorably for our nation. It is must drive Cindy nuts!"

Yesterday she said, Casey's recruiter lied to him! Yeah, evidently he didn't tell him how much he was going to like the military since he re-enlisted. Not much of a lie in my less than humble opinion.

!

Thanks. It time we all realized that to speak out in support of our troops AND their mission is to serve our country.

I think you are spot-on!!

I've been saying that she has deeply unresolved issues with her son because it's clear there's something else going on here. That's as far as I've thought about it, and you've completed the thought for me. Thank you!

And Bravo!

"She sure does think highly of herself."

She sure does! Doesn't she know that many people would deeply appreciate the honor of meeting with the President of the United States. Not just those who have lost loved ones in Iraq and elsewhere, but many Americans. She had her meeting with the President and now demands another one as if she should be "special" just because she has a bone to pick with him. The woman needs to seek counseling, IMO.

Our son served in Iraq and I would have loved to have a meeting with George Bush and let him know how much we support him and how thankful we were, and are, that he is the Commander in Chief.

"Our son served in Iraq..."

That's something to be proud of.

All those who currently serve are my heroes.

"Why do you make time for donors and not for me?"

Because donors pay money to keep people in office in return for special favors, while you are a nitwit tool of the radical left Bush opposition.

Sheesh, what la-la land has this woman been living in her whole life, and how did she manage to raise a son honorable enough to serve his country?
