Cindy Sheehan, the Vacaville woman staging a war protest outside of President Bush's Texas ranch, responded early today to criticism of her effort by members of her family. The protesting 48-year-old mother of a soldier killed in Iraq noted the admonition came from her in-laws who were "disagreeing with me in strong terms; which is totally okay with me, because they barely knew Casey,'.
Casey Sheehan, 24, was killed in Iraq in April 2004. Sheehan is camped outside of Bush's Crawford, Texas ranch insisting on another face-to-face meeting with the president to protest the war. Sheehan and her family met with Bush in June 2004 but opted not to question him about the war nor chastise him at that time.
"We have always been on separate sides of the fence politically and I have not spoken to them since the elections when they supported the man who is responsible for Casey's death,' Sheehan wrote of her in-laws. "The thing that matters to me is that my family: Casey's dad and my other three kids are on the same side of the fence that I am.'
She told a reporter for an Austin, Texas, newspaper that she and her husband, Patrick, have separated but said, "We both are handling our grief differently,' according to the newspaper.
"He agrees with the philosophy behind what I'm doing, that the war was wrong and George Bush lied, but he doesn't understand that I have a passion that I have to do this and this is the only way. If I can shorten the war by one minute and save one life, that would just give me so much comfort in my grief.'
Patrick Sheehan has declined to comment publicly about his wife's efforts.
His family, however, issued a terse e-mailed comment on Thursday.
"We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the expense of her son's good name and reputation,' read the e-mail signed by Casey's aunt Cherie Quartarolo on behalf of his paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
"The Sheehan family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving,' the e-mail stated. "The rest of the Sheehan family supports the troops, our country and our president, silently, with prayer and respect.'
This may well be the turning point in this story, as she's entered the Caine Mutiny "You're all against me!" phase of her mental breakdown, and it's simply undeniable.
All I can say is, MEOW!
She says things like, "this country is not worth dieing for", in her speeches and besmirches the military, the President, and our war effort.
Until researching her activities more, I was willing to cut her a lot of slack as a "grieving" mother. But I do not believe that is what she is any longer. She and the left are using that status to attack everything her son died to defend...and that crosses a horrible, disgusting and despicable line for me.
ARRRRGHHH!!!! She and her ilk are LENGTHENING the war by days, months, even years by giving the Islamists a hope of defeating our will.
" If I can shorten the war by one minute and save one life..."
I assume she is referring to her desire to save the life of a terrorist...or as her backers call them, "Iraqi Minutemen".

I hadn't heard this before - apparently Casey was the only soldier in the current army that was drafted against his will.
Is it known how Mrs. Sheehan viewed the original decision of her brave son, Casey, to join the Army? Was she unhappy about it from the beginning? Something tells me that that might be the case.
(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,

flyer handed out at event she spoke at...
I believe that was the case.
(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
Exactly. Her and her ilk are blind to what they are causing.
Cindy "OJ" Sheehan
She has three other children? Where are they?
Good lord. I know this woman is grieving, but that's one of the most deliberately cruel statements I've ever heard.
Hiding from their moonbat Mom.
1) Denial (this isn't happening to me!)
2) Anger (why is this happening to me?)
3) Bargaining (I promise I'll be a better person if...)
4) Depression (I don't care anymore)
5) Acceptance (I'm ready for whatever comes)
It seems that poor Cindy is stuck somewhere between #2 and #3.
Hey, I paid $5 for that tag line!
