This photo provided by Jeep shows 140 vehicles positioned by Jeep owners in the form of an American flag Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, in Mount Pocono, Pa., to promote the National Anthem Project, a national effort to re-teach Americans the words to 'The Star-Spangled Banner.' Two out of three Americans do not know the words to the National Anthem, according to a Harris Poll survey. The flag, measuring 73 feet wide by 191 feet long, was created to celebrate the first year of this multi-year national education initiative of which Jeep is a national sponsor. What a jeep publicity stunt.
and all that from a "German" car company...LOL
Who cares about the motive...all these jeep people at least get a message out! and no better message than the American flag!
Cute! It looks like they parked the blue ones on a blue groundcloth of some sort.
hey, why couldn't i be in that.. i got both a blue jeep and a white one (getting a red one later this summer)
I hope there were no INDIAN names used in this flag........../sarc
FWIW, FYI, the GI "Jeep" was the inspiration for the Land Rover, of African Safari fame and the 1st. SUV. The owner of Rover Motor Cars, in England, had the use of an American jeep during WWII at his hilly estate in Wales. It's utility was obvious and he set about to produce a civilian version, of larger dimensions, for the export market after the war. Because steel had become less available than aluminum, the only metal available to Rover for body work was aluminum. Hence the lightweight aluminum bodies that served Land Rovers so well in the bush.
There's a very subtle, but powerful caveat to the hate-America crowd and those that rage against, "American Imperialism."
In 1959, 14 years after the end of WWII, the movie, "The Mouse That Roared," was released telling the story of a small, impoverished principality that saw how prosperous the nations defeated by the U.S. had become, and declared war against the U.S. in hopes of losing. The fact that the Germans have been whoooped by us twice in the past 100 years and now own the Jeep trademark, a company that had provided critical materiel in the German defeat, is strong comment on the munificence and generosity of the United States.
>>>What a jeep publicity stunt.
kyuck kyuck kyuck
Kiddo, it's my opinion also!
I agree.....but their inner socialistic form of Government will keep them below us....at least until our socialists get more power......and the way the Republicans are spending our money like drunken sailors, it might not be too long.
(BTW...I currently own 3 Chrysler products....love em too.)
marker bump
I have a green Jeep, but I guess that doesn't help.
It does accumulate enough bird crap that it might be good for a white stripe!
Man, that was a bad pun!8-)
Well, once the population of Mexico moves north, we'll have to add some green to our flag to make'em feel more at home, and less marginalized, so you're green jeep can be the start of that stripe!
ping
I'll leave the bird poop on it then.
Seems appropriate.
Jeep is proud to say: These colors do run , but running is their business.
