Responding to a call made by Palestinian Authority (P.A.) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to stop firing rockets at Israeli targets, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri announced that it was the rockets that ended the occupation.
Abu Zuhri was referring to Israels unilateral withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, due to begin next week. Abbas had told the Palestinian Legislative Council that firing rockets harmed Palestinian interests and resulted in destructive consequences. He cited the example of a Palestinian boy who was killed last week when a Qassam rocket landed short of its target. Injured in the same attack were also family members of former Palestinian minister Hisham 'Abd A-Raziq.
Abbas didnt refer to the fact that the armed resistance is the major reason for ending the occupation, said the Hamas spokesman. A number of military experts in Israel have warned that the unilateral withdrawal will encourage rather than dampen interest in terrorism because of the widely-held perception among Palestinians that Israels withdrawal is a direct result of an intense, four-year terror campaign.

It's interesting that you mentioned "land for peace," Prime Choice. Have a look at this. Be sure to notice the earlier dates and parties involved.
From the UN:
http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs/2003/sc7924.doc.htm "
[On 20 December 2002, the Quartet (Russian Federation, United States, European Union, United Nations) reached agreement on the text of the Road Map with the goal of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and ending the occupation that began in 1967. That goal was to be achieved on the basis of the 1991 Madrid peace conference, the principle of land for peace, Council resolutions 242 (1967), 338 (1973) and 1397 (2002), agreements reached previously by the parties, and the Arab Initiative of Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah endorsed by the Council of the League of Arab States on 28 March 2002. The performance-based and goal-driven Road Map presented clear phases, time lines, target dates and benchmarks aimed at the progression by the two parties through reciprocal steps in the political, security, economic, humanitarian and institution-building fields, under the auspices of the Quartet. The Road Map was officially submitted to the parties on 30 April 2003.]"
