Eat 5000 calories a day of ANYTHING and you'll get fat.

Wasnt there a movie not too long ago by the guy pissed off at the "Super Size Me" vid who did his own? I heard that he ate at McDonalds EVERY DAY..breakfast, lunch, dinner. However, he exercised every day as well, and he felt superb. Anyone know the name of this one?

The two Morgans in this story is really confusing me. She should have taken an assumed name.

"Dawn Jackson Blatner, a registered dietitian and spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association, agreed that a low-calorie, McDonald's-only diet can help people lose weight but said it may not offer enough long-term variety. Whatever an individual does to lose weight, they need to do for the rest of their life, she said. "

Reading between the lines: "Fat people are so dumb that they don't realize they can eat sensibly just about anywhere. They need a dietitian nanny to tell them what to think and do."

It's all about choices. You can choose something low fat to eat even at fast food restaurants...and who says you have to eat out 3 or more times a day, 365 days a year? You can choose to stay home, get a good cookbook and/or find someone to teach you how, and cook your own food without fat, salt, carbs, etc. etc. You can also choose to get off your duff and exercise.

I don't always make the right choices...probably why I'm fat. But the notion that one is fat because of fast food places means that person is not taking responsibility for him/herself. I own up to my failings, but in the end, it's not the government's job, the restaurants' job or the food industry's job in general to keep me thin. It's my responsibility and mine alone.

And now, I'm going to make the choice to shut off the computer, hit the company fitness center and then go home and make myself a healthy dinner. Good night! :)

"Morgan used nutritional information downloaded from McDonald's Web site to create meal plans of no more than 1,400 calories a day. She only ate french fries twice, usually choosing burgers and salads. Those choices are a stark contrast with those made by Spurlock, who ate every menu item at least once."

If that isn't the non-sequitur of the year I don't know what is.

This is the inverse of what I always said about "Slimfast". I could drink one McD's shake for breakfast and one for lunch and eat a sensible dinner and lose weight!

I'll bet that I could go into any health food / soup & salad restaurant and eat 5,000 calories a day, and make myself ill too!

This article is 100% correct! You can eat the "bad stuff," as long as it's in moderation. 5,000 calories a day is NOT moderation. IIRC, that's about what a professional athalete needs.

Subway runs their ads with the guy who lost about 100 lbs eating subway sands. It can be done with any fast food if one picks and chooses what they eat. This crap of trying to police everything we do has got to come to a screeching halt or soon we will be beaking the law on everything we do.

I can see the story now "Swat team shoots suspect in home raid. suspect was eating a Big Mac when a swat team burst into his home and shot him as he reached for french fries crying "I will never stop eating fat!" Police say they had to shoot as they were afraid some of the french fry fat would have gotten onto their uniforms. "You know how hard they are to clean," said the leader of the swat team. "If he hadn't been eating burgers and fries we wouldn't have had to shoot him."

Yep, this might be the next step. It isn't as far fetched as you might think.
