SUNRISE -- Police seized 2 ounces of marijuana at the home of Anthony Diotaiuto after shooting him 10 times, according to information on the drug raid released Tuesday.
Also Tuesday, while many friends and relatives of the 23-year-old bartender and student mourned him at a Davie funeral home, others appeared at a Sunrise City Commission meeting to demand an explanation for the fatal raid
"Do 2 ounces of marijuana constitute a death warrant?" asked Sunrise resident William de Larm, a friend of Diotaiuto's.

10 hits, wonder how many rounds were fired and how many shooters? Of course they had a week to get their stories to match up. Next time they should just use one of these

The names of the SWAT team members should be posted on the internet.

FWIW, 2 oz of pot is a bit much for personal consumption...False.
To: HairOfTheDog; ContemptofCourt
Well 2 ounces CAN be a lot, depending on the grade. If it was just Mexican Commercial Brickweed, 2oz could be just for personal consumption (about $120 worth depending on the market). The scales and baggies would seem to indicate that he was dealing. Weights are kind of arbitrary though.. some people just like to buy in bulk. Ive known some people would buy more than an ounce of high-grade stuff at a time just for themselves.
In any event, even if he was dealing, 2oz is still a pathetically small amount to call in the JBTs over.

a full SWAT team for a home pot bust is ridiculous. Absolutely correct. I'd like to see the affadavit for the warrant to see what other info they were taking into consideration that is not being reported.

"This Country must get back to some semblance of civilized behavior before it turns into a free for all."I want to live in a country where people do not get shot for posessing, even with the intent to sell, 2 ounces of dried plant material.
That, sir, is a "free for all"; it is a disgusting abuse of libertry.

You can get 2 oz for $120 today? Back in the late '80s, I was getting an oz for $100, and thought that was a good price.
Ummm, I mean, my friend told me that....

Pick a subject you know something about. Two ounces of pot is not a lot of pot, certainly not worth killing about. This is a classic example of what's wrong with the war on drugs.

I'd like to see the affadavit for the warrant to see what other info they were taking into consideration that is not being reported. In the first story earlier in the week the lead jbt specifically said they sent the swat team into the house solely becasue he had a conceal carry permit they knew ahead of time that they were going to assasinate him and planned it out accordingly

actually, i'm not huge into muzzle loading, the vast majority of my powder is smokeless (i load everything myself- except my .38super, and only cuz i haven't shot up enough brass to reload it yet). i only picked up muzzle loading to get that extra two weeks of deer hunting.

If you are engaged in criminal activity it would make sense that we would be knocking on your door. Therefore, to reach for a weapon is a conscious decision to fight. As an officer you should know that your back is covered by your fellow officers and they expect you to be covering theirs. There is no latitude here! This person chose the wrong path of action and he lost and thank God he did because it could be a couple brothers being put to rest with taps playing in the background. Nuff said!

I like that. Nice way to de-humanize your "enemy". Guy was a major dealer anyway, he deserved it.

The shooting outraged and confused Diotaiuto's friends, who said he had no criminal record, was not violent and didn't sell drugs. .......The concealed weapons permit, was a "major factor" in the department's decision to involve the SWAT team, Voss said. From the earlier story http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1460209/posts
