Able Danger and Posse Comitatus
August 11, 2005 | self

Posted on 08/11/2005 12:03:45 PM PDT by howardl

The activities of the Able Danger project by US military intelligence appear to be at odds with the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 which forbids use of military personnel in domestic policing actions. Apparently some "intelligence support" is permitted under court and executive interpretations of the act. There was anger on the left in the early 1970s when it was learned that military intelligence kept files on (left-leaning) protest (or revolutionary) groups. There was anger on the right in the 1990s when it was learned that military advisors were present at Waco.

Actually, Able Danger was a "data mining" operation conducted by professional intelligence gatherers. Uding data collected overseas and tracing it back In-CONUS then reporting their findings.

The Ghost of Jamie Gorelick... 'the compliant functionary'........... destroyed the country.

What does that say about the looney tunes Repubs that let her set on the 911 commission?

Doesn't "Able Danger" sound sort of silly? Sounds like a Maxwell Smart operative.

Traditionally, code names of US military operations are composed of words which are not necessarily associated with one another, and which in no way reveal the purpose of the operation. Hence "Overlord", "Fortitude" and "Neptune" for the Normandy operation and the associated deceptions. Very often the code names sound meaningless or even silly. Unfortunately, in recent years the trend has been to curry favor with the press and general public by devising "meaningful" operational code words: "Operation Just Cause", "Operation Desert Storm", "Operation Iraqi Freedom". The danger is that if/when these names are inadvertently compromised, the entire operation may be compromised.

Get a load of this.

Dietrich Snell is one of the guys approached by Able Danger operatives.

Author Peter Lance later calls Snell “one of the fixers, hired early on to sanitize the Commission's final report.” Lance says Snell ignored evidence presented to the Commission that shows direct ties between the Bojinka plot and 9/11, and in so doing covers up Snell's own role in the failure to make more use of evidence learned from Murad and other Bojinka plotters. It's says basically that all of this govermment is composed of weak, limp, compromised men and women. This country is corrupt as can be, and it's a losing matter.

and it's a losing matter.

I am 67 years old and resigned to that, I just pray that God forgives what we have visited on his children.

Thank you. Pearce says it all. I had lost that article. Thanks for posting, I'll never lose it again.

My favorite talk show host, Jim Quinn in Pittsburgh, read that whole thing to his audience when it was written. He tells the truth constantly. (quinn@warroom.com)

A very despicable and ruinous thing that the media in America will say nothing of this. To me, that is a sure sign that this country is too ill to ever get better. Too much corruption.

Yet another high crime will have been committed if the September 11 Commission doesn’t demand testimony from her.

It's not too late for her testimony, as Congress perhaps will ask WHICH 9/11 STAFFERS (and commission members) learned of the activities and findings of the Able Danger project.

This is so disgusting.

Okay, thanks to the original FReeper.

I don't suppose we'll ever know whose notations and what they were on the files Sandy Burglar stole and destroyed, if that fits into the timeline.

Interesting. In fact this entire episode is fascinating .

I tried to get an insight on Peter Lance. This one goes back to September of 2004 which I found quite interesting.

We found that yesterday, G. Mason and tried to post it on several threads so more people would see it.

It's it a fascinating tale? And digs Snell a little deeper hole.
