FAMILY OF FALLEN SOLDIER PLEADS: PLEASE STOP, CINDY! Thu Aug 11 2005 12:56:21 ET
The family of American soldier Casey Sheehan, who was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004, has broken its silence and spoken out against his mother Cindy Sheehan's anti-war vigil against George Bush held outside the president's Crawford, Texas ranch.
The following email was received by the DRUDGE REPORT from Casey's aunt and godmother:
Our family has been so distressed by the recent activities of Cindy we are breaking our silence and we have collectively written a statement for release. Feel free to distribute it as you wish. Thanks Ð Cherie
In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue: Sheehan Family Statement:
The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.
Sincerely,
Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
Developing..
This poor lady is being used by Media Benjamin in order to promote Code Pink's anti-war, anti-America, Bush-hating agenda. We should be merciful in our criticism of her, and vent our spleens on the rotten, low-life scum that is taking advantage of her grief and loss.
If any good comes of this, it will be that the leftists in this country will be exposed as willing to go to any lengths to destroy us all, and let dead soldiers, grieving mothers, and true patriots be damned. They are digging their own graves with this sickening behavior.
So sorry to hear of your loss, many blessings to you and your family. May I ask, did you lose your son to a war?
"She sounds either drugged or mentally deranged."
Fred Barnes agrees with you. He just called her a 'crackpot' on the FNC Brit Hume show.
The kooks at DUmmies are already stalking out her family members to make their lives a living hell for supporting her son and not her.
I thought of you the other day when all this started coming out and everyone was making excuses for her antics. I thought of others who have lost children, some here on FR. These parents, including my own mother who lost a beautiful daughter to leukemia, have borne their grief and yes, a sense of insanity, with strength and grace. I think this woman was straddling the wall before her son's death and has willingly tumbled down the other side into the arms of the msm, lefties, and the enemies of the US. Her choice. My choice to find her disgusting.
That's not what she wants. It's not about her son anymore. It's all about her now. She's getting her 15 minutes of fame.
Bush has met with her. Then the Moore types grabbed her, and her soul has been lost ever since. She went over the edge. Now, she lives on the dark side.
Bull..that's what sells papers and news stories. Ignore this sh$t....it's your best bet. It's all hype.
As someone who has been there, you will survive. We have to.

You are so right. This is not grief but absolute hatred for this country and its leaders.
And while you're at it, Freep this poll too (on the same page as the previous poll): Has the war in Iraq been worth the cost?

Well, I was afraid you wouldn't argue with me because I was so adamant! I don't want our discussion to be that way!
With that out of the way, I will agree with you that different people handle their grief in different ways. And frankly, I worry about the ones who "never miss a beat," as you say.
There is a normal pattern for grief and it sounds like you and I went about the same direction, almost over the edge.
But do you see that we had the sense to pull back and realize that the grief is something that will be part of us forever and we just have to accept that?
Read what she said about her first meeting with Bush. Now something has happened to this woman between that meeting and today -- and my opinion is that she LIKES the attention being the mother of a dead soldier brings to her. One of her relatives called a CA talk show and said she was a control freak and that her son had joined the military to get away from her. Now, imagine living with THAT; it must have killed her that, despite her vocal oposition to the war, he defied her by re-upping in 2004, well after the war began.
I agree this woman has major issues -- and that the leftists are using her -- but it's not about her grief anymore; she is enjoying the fame her son's death brought her. IMO.
Yes, and while we're at it can we take the calories out of chocolate?
Thanks for voting. And since it will take at least 770 votes to move the results by one percentage point, it may be a little while before Freeping has any affect.
To the family, we join you in grieving for your heroic Casey. May God be watching over his soul and may He bring you peace.
I absolutely refuse to let this woman make those of us who have lost children look like mad women/men.
I reject her and her pathetic excuses.
