9/11 Commission Acknowledges Briefing On Able Danger
Captain's Quarters ^ | August 10, 2005 | Captain Ed

Tomorrow's New York Times reports that members of the 9/11 Commission reversed themselves and now acknowledge being briefed on the Army's data mining project, Able Danger, prior to the publication of their report to the American people. After over 24 hours of denying that anyone had told the Commission about the secret project, their spokesman now says that commission officials met with a uniformed officer who told them about the identification of Mohammed Atta and three other 9/11 hijackers in 2000, over a year prior to the attacks:

There is such as thing as self-deception and that could well prove to be Hillry's undoing.

I agree with your usage of shoes.

I observe the President and his administration's willingness to let this lay below the surface and I cannot help but think that to have upset the liberals donkey cart earlier would only drive the moles deep into hiding.

Congress, especially those Republican leaders of committees with charge of oversight should get to the bottom of this immediately. Unfortunately, there are too many play acting the roll of Republican leaders who are leftists, I really have little confidence they are interested much in discovery.

Why was not Congress aware of this military intelligence group when this report was done?

The "children" appear to be in charge.

We are to the point now that one is forced to "imagine" what else we do not know.

" The 9/11 Commision was just about blaming it all on Bush and they certainly weren't willing to come out with any evidence that Clinton is the one who dropped the ball."

Exactly. That's why the only Republicans on the Commission were soft-headed "go with the flow" types. I was astonished at the time that none of them spoke out against Gorelick's blatently obvious conflict of interest.

We need a Commission to investigate the Commission, and Sandy PantsBurglar as well

" Our newsbreak this morning said only staffers and certain Commission members -- a lot were left in the dark if the report was right this morning. The staffers were the ones that vetted this whole deal. "

I'd be willing to bet that the Commission members who knew were Gorelick and BenVeniste, charter members of the BlameBushFirsters, and that they ordered the staff to cool their jets.

I can remember Fred Thompson getting so angry that the RATs stalled his Committee's China investigation and the Clinton WH would not cooperate. Sen Inhofe went on the floor of the Senate to give his famous speech on Theft of Nuclear Secrets.

I think this stalling and attacking by the Democrats in the Senate and House has been going on a lot longer then I thought. A lot is beginning to come into focus. That's why Gorelick had the wall -- agencies were not to talk to each other as CIA and FBI were not all Clintonite so they didn't dare allow agencies to share information.

Think we are now seeing the tip of the iceberg. I am totally convinced Monica investigation was a sham pulled on the American people. Remember how the RATs wouldn't even go look at the evidence? I think some of them knew all along it was a set-up by the Clintons to get China off the screen along with fundraising.

Can remember Inhofe kept yelling about China and all he got in return was Monicagate -- same with Fred Thompson.

I would be willing to lay some money down on that bet. I just realized that this all came out and it is not a Friday afternoon. Clintons obviously are not behind the NY Times article.

"Read somewhere that they were going to search which records Berger accessed in the archives."

Gee, I wonder if there were any phone calls between Mr. Berger and Benveniste and Gorelick?

I wonder what they could have discussed? Did they forget to talk about the advantages of cargo pants?

I don't know, this is pretty fortuitous...the anniversary of 9/11 is just around the corner and the MSM will be refocusing on it....

And quite possibly, so will the Terrorists.

Whenever they start issuing those threats, they follow up on them with action, before too very long.

It should happen, but it never will. This is all about the entrenched civilian Beltway bureaucracy and their backslapping mouthpieces in the media. This will be forgotten and buried just like everything else.

And the lie about Able Danger and Atta only begins to scratch the surface of the lies the American people are being told with regard to 9/11, Iraq, and the anthrax attacks after 9/11. The official report is nothing but a gigantic fraud.

"Who were those staffers."

I'm willing to bet they were loyal little trolls appointed by the Mafia lawyer, Ben-Venista.

""There was no way that Atta could have been in the United States at that time, ...

What Incompetence!!!! Would they argue that there are not 6-11 million illegals in the US because we have no record of their entry???????? Is it incompetence, or is it something else?

Gee, they know that Atta , unlike most Al-Qaeda terrorists, never used one of those false passports, therefore Atta could not have been in the US, therefore the data mining info was useless? Give me a BREAK!!!

"Personally I think Wag the Dog was made into a movie for the same reason. No way was it a coincidence that the firefly or whatever it was girl was wearing a black beret. Set up by the White House and their friends in Hollywood."

VERY INTERESTING, (and something that has been bothering me for many years.) I think you are exactly right. I was just thinking the other day, that I stopped watching sit-coms on TV during the Clinton years, when Bloodworth-Thomasas injected politics into every bloody program you sat down to watch!

I think the word you are looking for is "cover-up" because it seems to fit very well. Atta was in this Country before the OKC Bombing and met with Moussouri at a motel on I-40 -- he seemed to be able to come and go as he pleased. Funny thing about that motel McVeigh and Nichols used the same motel and the FBI were not interested in investigating his tips according to the owner.

Am glad I am not the only one that was bothered by all of that with Wag the Dog. I have had the feeling for sometime that Monica was to take the heat off of everything else and what do they have -- a movie with a Monica look alike they say they filmed BEFORE the story broke. Yeah right.

Ms. Clinton had to know all about Monica as she had spies for her all over the WH. I think it was one big set-up including what happened with Linda Tripp befriending Monica. Something about all of that didn't sit very well either. Just have that feeling the clintons orchestrated the whole Monica deal just like they did his reelection after the OKC Bombing. Slimey creatures.

Don't data mining algorithms require substantial use of profiling? At the risk of sounding overly technical, what data was being mined that led to the discovery of the terrorists prior to 911? It would be quite useful and satisfying to have additional information on the data-sets that were being used by Able Danger.

For example:

The most commonly used techniques in data mining are:

Artificial neural networks: Non-linear predictive models that learn through training and resemble biological neural networks in structure.

Decision trees: Tree-shaped structures that represent sets of decisions. These decisions generate rules for the classification of a dataset. Specific decision tree methods include Classification and Regression Trees (CART) and Chi Square Automatic Interaction Detection (CHAID) .

Genetic algorithms: Optimization techniques that use processes such as genetic combination, mutation, and natural selection in a design based on the concepts of evolution.

Nearest neighbor method: A technique that classifies each record in a dataset based on a combination of the classes of the k record(s) most similar to it in a historical dataset (where k ³ 1). Sometimes called the k-nearest neighbor technique.

Rule induction: The extraction of useful if-then rules from data based on statistical significance.

The science of data mining is quite intriguing. Still, I can't help but ask what databases were used, what datasets were used, and a whole slew of other thangs.

Ms. Clinton knew all about Monica...of course she did. As she said about the others...when bubba was running..."We worked it out". Add "Linda Tripp worked at the Pentagon until Bubba left office" to your "think about it" list.

Glad you brought that up about being at the Defense Department until Clinton left office. She took a political appointment which I thought strange at the time.

This whole deal smells!
