So we had Atta in 2000 and all Defense had to do was send the information over to the FBI, and a bunch of lawyers would not allow it? This is one time they would have been better off to break the rule.

Interesting that the 9/11 Commission should mention that wall of separation, since it had been set up by a memo from Assistant Secretary Jamie Gorelick, who was a 9/11 commission member.

The people involved in preventing the arrest of Atta should be investigated and at the very least fired and barred from working for the U.S. government again -- ever.

At the very least. Savage was demanding tonight that they be tried for treason.

Whole bunch in the klinton admin. knew it, but chose TREASON over loyalty to their oath! It's never too late to bring traitors to trial.

That’s because Mohammed Atta possessed a “green card” at the time and Defense Department lawyers did not want to recommend that the FBI go after someone holding a green card.

Its hard to believe that we cannot arrest/execute a terrorist just because of that card... and the result is, thousands of dead innocent civilians and street dancing demons in Palestine.

If this had happened under the Bush administration the MSM and Demagogues would have seen that the 9/11 Commission wrote their whole report about it. Instead, we were treated to the absurd spectacle of Richard Clarke fabricating a case that Condi Rice supposedly acted like she'd never heard of Al Qaeda, yeah right! So under the Clintonlites clear opportunities to roll up Atta's cell were squandered, and the 9/11 Comm. provided a whitewash of history. Wonder what else Sandy Burglar, Jamie Gorelicker, and other scumbags have covered up?????

If confirmed as true, this is horrible!

Mrs. Gorelick then should look for a job in fast-food, something more along her abilities.

This would be another incriminating piece against Clinton, our "Fuhrer" who told us white radical Christians are the danger all awhile WTC1 (1993), Kohbar towers, USS Cole, US embassies blew up. Yes, the leader who looked so concerned when our dead were brought back from Somalia (where he was involved in botching it up), Rwanda a year later where he failed to do something and Iraq which was violating the armistice, threw out the inspectors and all he had the courage to do was fire a few missiles.

In fact I’d say that the 2003 Iraq war might have never occurred had Clinton not allowed this erosion in inspections, controls, violations of no fly/no wheel zones etc. Even in the Balkans Clinton was a disaster. Not making up his mind until late in the game, then adopting a policy which Bush Sr. proposed and he berated as “war mongering” during the elections. Guess how the war in the Balkans was financed? The DoD never received the funding it required to finance this war once he did make up his mind, so out of hide the DoD had to suck up many of the costs. We don’t want to mess with the “Peace Dividend” do we? Our military was being bled dry under him.

This is another nail in Clinton’s coffin. He even cut the War on Drugs program. We went from around 2000 to 500 personnel in Columbia and much of the funding was cut. No president in history has jeopardized our national security as bad as Clinton. Immature, self-serving, this ideologically left minded individual did some severe damage to us in his eight years in office. Even our missile defense shield (Reenergized under Bush Jr.) was cut into and just on the ropes under his tenure. It’s unbelievable what a bad President can do! But it’s an insult to the service member when Newsweek ran an article in 2003 stating the success in Iraq was only possible because of “Clintons Army.”

If this article is confirmed then it's just one more aspect where Clinton was negligent in performing his duties.

Vital P.R.O.P.*-related ping!

Contact your Congressmen and women, your Senators and demand that they ally themselves with Penn. Rep. Curt Weldon, and conduct a special investigation and/or appoint a special prosecutor.

WHO WERE these LAWYERS in the DoD, or Klintoon White House?

Why did they have/enact such a policy?

What roles did Sandy "Burglar" and Jamie Gorelick play, besides the obvious?

WHO let 19 bloodthirsty practitioners of the P.R.O.P. go unfettered with their plans to MURDER 3,000 civilian Americans in a ruthless act of war?

WHERE does the trail of Blood and shame lead to?

How much stonewalling, evading, lying, and misdirecting will we tolerate before we march in the streets?

Will we let Hitlery into the White House, so we can go back to business as usual, and it can happen - again - on a worse scale?

Are you FREEPING outraged yet?!

“If we had had that [military intelligence] system in 1999 and 2000, which the military had already developed as a prototype, and if we had followed the lead of the military entity that identified the Al Qaeda cell of Mohammed Atta, then perhaps, Mr. Speaker, 9/11 would never have occurred,” Weldon said during his special order remarks

Good grief, why in the h#ll wasn't the system in place and running and why isn't it now?

No surprise: they had Zacharias Mousouie (sp?) who was caught trying to learn how to fly but didn't care about how to land and the lawyers back in DC wouldn't let the agents look into his computer. Other field were worried about arabs taking flying lessons, their warnings were buried in DC. Probably many other incidents we have not heard about.

knew it? we planned it! It was all about the oil, remember? haven't you heard that the flight that hit the Pentagon hit on the opposite side from Donald Rumsfeld's office? Or that the plane was actually flown by joystick from NORAD, because no pilot could make it do what it did? /nonsense

Had to post the "/nonsense" because, undoubtedly, some would think I was serious, probably because people have asserted this very nonsense with a straight face. I heard a guy pitching a CD that supposedly "proves" all this and more, as part of a fundraiser for some NYC community radio station. Couldn't believe my ears.

Pretty much answers the question "what did they know and when did they know it?" Long before the current adminsitration.

True, that hindsight is 20/20 and I can accomodate a small amount of the benefit of the doubt there.

HOWEVER, once the 911 commission was in place, there is no explanation in the world to this reader why this was not brought to the forefront. That to me is the larger question. Who on the 911 'staff' decides what gets forwarded to the Commission? With the exception of Gorelick, who should have never been a part of it, I think they did an admirable job. But it appears now that they were kept in the dark on this. What else is lurking in those dark corners? And what did Sandy Burglar have stuffed in his socks?

This sure goes a long way to explain how, on the day of the attacks, they were able to reveal who most of the hijackers were.

That sums it all up for me.

According to Weldon, staff members of the 9/11 Commission were briefed on the capabilities of the Able Danger intelligence unit within the Special Operations Command, which had been set up by General Pete Schoomaker, who headed Special Ops at the time, on the orders of General Hugh Shelton, then the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. Staffers at the 9/11 Commission staffers were also told about the specific recommendation to break up the Mohammed Atta cell. However, those commission staff members apparently did not choose to brief the commission’s members on these sensitive matters.

Although one can blame Clinton more than Bush, both administrations failed to take action. No need to wonder why the commission wasn't briefed...just the politicians circling the wagon's to protect each other asses at the expense of our national security....

Ohhhhh come on people, quit blaming Clinton and his administration. 9-11 is all Dubya's fault.

It was documented by the prestigious 9-11 Commission, whose members integrity is beyond reproach, that when Billy Jeff President Clinton handed over the front door key for 1600 Pennsylvania Ave to President Bush, he said, "Oh by the way, there's this guy Bin Laden, watch out for him."

See. It's all Bush's fault!

~~~ sarcasm off~~
