9/11 Commission's Staff Ignored Military's Early Identification of Chief Hijacker

9/11 Commission's Staff Ignored Military's Early Identification of Chief Hijacker By DOUGLAS JEHL and PHILIP SHENON

WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 - The Sept. 11 commission was warned by a uniformed military officer 10 days before issuing its final report that the account would be incomplete without reference to what he described as a secret military operation that by the summer of 2000 had identified as a potential threat the member of Al Qaeda who would lead the attacks more than a year later, commission officials said on Wednesday.

The officials said that the information had not been included in the report because aspects of the officer's account had sounded inconsistent with what the commission knew about that Qaeda member, Mohammed Atta, the plot's leader.

But aides to the Republican congressman who has sought to call attention to the military unit that conducted the secret operation said such a conclusion relied too much on specific dates involving Mr. Atta's travels and not nearly enough on the operation's broader determination that he was a threat.

The briefing by the military officer is the second known instance in which people on the commission's staff were told by members of the military team about the secret program, called Able Danger.

The meeting, on July 12, 2004, has not been previously disclosed. That it occurred, and that the officer identified Mr. Atta there, were acknowledged by officials of the commission after the congressman, Curt Weldon of Pennsylvania, provided information about it.

So which slime ball Democrat will come out as the obstructionist to this investigation? You know the Dem's will go nuts if they think this will hurt Hillary's chances in 2008 or the Democrats chances in general.

We may end up connecting quite a few dots with this piece of the puzzle. Rush will have a field day with this story in the coming weeks.

I hope the Dem's go down in flames over this like the victims of 9/11 did. I hope they jump out of their office windows when they know the game is over. Expect a complete MSM blackout on this story as it heats up.

I would also like to know if the MSM had any idea about this new information and if they just sat on it to protect their own. I hope this story pisses off the whole nation.

Like minds.
The first thing GW should have done was purge all the Clintonistas. What do yo think Hillary will do if she gets in? Sometimes you just have to play hardball.

"This is from the Times? Is their editor on vacation?"

The story did not mention either Clinton or Reno. That is no accident. If they have to report the story, the MSM is going to hold-off from linking this to Clinton and hope that people attribute any lapse to W.

Boy, it looks like they a releasing the truth in dribbles. First, yes the staff were informed about the military unit but no one mentioned Atta, than the staff is checking their notes and now, well it seems that the staff was given Atta's name, BUT there were only 10 days left in the commission.

1964 - The Warren Commission
2004 - The 9/11 Commission

NO words closer to the truth have EVER been spoken. When the puzzle falls together, however, is when you realize WHO these commissions were designed to protect.

The Warren Commission had Gerald Ford as the WHITE RAT manuvering to ensure the truth did NOT come out. He is still fighting to protect the BIG lie from over 40 years ago.

The 9/11 Commission had Gorelick. Her mission was to ensure that the truth did not come out.

Now the real interesting part is when you KNOW, beyond ANY reasonable doubt, WHO these commissions were protecting. Once that is established, you can understand why later administrations carry on the lie (including Bush today).

The "BIG LIE PLAYBOOK" was established in 1964 with the Warren Commission. The playbook is pulled off the shelf whenever the big boys feel a lie needs to be told.

Let's face it, if you can kill an American President in the streets of an American city in front of hundreds of witnesses and get away with it, then something like the 9/11 commission is child's play.

For example:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1181399/posts

This short thread is about a report that Berger was stealing secrets "were about the Clinton administration blocking the investigation of the suspects that later committed the 911 hijackings".

THIS STORY WAS FROM July, 2004!!!!!

This was reported in the NYPOST but I was unsuccessful in searching for the story in archieves. I will attempt to come up with the NYPOST story later after I finish a few other writing projects (I mostly live in the past, but you realize that HISTORY REPEATS itself if you don't clean up the cockroaches from the past).

I posted a story last summer explaining the 9/11 commisson which was generally ignored. I'll dig up the link later and post a timeline that one of the replies had to the story. I think it's time to continue that thread as we have another piece of the puzzle.

It all ties together.

I remember researching Watergate in College and the conclusion I reached is these guys really aren't that smart. Well Clinton is about the dumbest rock that can be imagined. One of the posts to the link above said the following:

"To think that any administration would purposefully prevent investigating those who attacked us is almost unfathomable."

Well that's true: It is almost unfathomable but that's exactly what the biggest rock in American History did, he lied about terrorism and it surfaced again in 9/11. He lied BECAUSE he didn't want no danged terrorists making him take military action against Iraq in the 1990's.

So terrorism never happened (that's what MSM and the GOV'T investigations said). Bill Clinton got re-elected and the lies continue to this day. It's a simple story that no reasonable person would believe to be true.

Unfortunately, it's true.

You can fool ALL OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME, well Clinton would have got away with it except for 9/11 when the terrorists pulled the big one.

The primary objective of the 9/11 Commission was to ensure that no evidence pointed at Willie and, in fact, tended to demonstrate that Willie was pure as snow.

I read somewhere here on FR that Clinton has immunity from prosecution, as part of the deal cut for his impeachment.

The abstract of the NY POST ARTICLE is below, the HOT paragraph is:

"What Berger took from the Archives was several drafts of an after- action review of al-Qaeda's thwarted attempt to attack America during the 1999 millennium celebration, written by anti-terrorism ..."

I wonder what they said that Bill Clinton himself didn't want US TO KNOW?

Hey Bill, we're on to you! When you got on Letterman and said "Sandy Berger is just that way, messy desk but he does good work." Letterman let you laugh about it. The idiots in the audience laughed with you.

It won't be so funny when the victims families of the 9/11 attacks collectively want to HANG YOU. Me, I just want you exposed, because then I know you will die a slow painful death in exile. No more BS, no more hero worship from the Demo sheeple, you are toast.

Your time is coming.

..... If the cell members lent or borrowed or traded cell phones and or credit cards, the data mining would show a hit for the person with the cell phone or credit card hit, NOT the physical person who may have used it. Atta's cards or cell phones might have been used (getting hits on Able Danger's radar) with Atta not even in the country.

Bingo!

The memo grew out of the Justice Department's prosecution of the 1993 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center -- the act that apparently gave Osama bin Laden the idea to try again in 2001.

"During the course of those investigations," wrote Gorelick in 1995, "significant counterintelligence information has been developed related to the activities and plans of agents of foreign powers operating in this country and overseas, including previously unknown connections between separate terrorist groups." But Gorelick wanted to make sure that the left hand didn't know what the right was doing. "(W)e believe that it is prudent to establish a set of instructions that will clearly separate the counterintelligence investigation from the more limited, but continued, criminal investigations. These procedures, which go beyond what is legally required, will prevent any risk of creating an unwarranted appearance that FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) is being used to avoid procedural safeguards which would apply in a criminal investigation."

The problem, of course, is that the inability to share information is precisely what hampered federal agents in tracking down the 9-11 hijackers. As Attorney General Ashcroft testified, this artificial wall impeded the investigation into Zacarias Moussaoui, the so-called 20th hijacker, who was arrested prior to the 9-11 attack, as well as Khalid al-Midhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi, both of whom were identified by the CIA as suspected terrorists possibly in the United States prior to their participation in those terrible attacks. "Because of the wall, FBI Headquarters refused to allow criminal investigators who knew the most about the most recent al Qaeda attack to join in the hunt for the suspected terrorists," Ashcroft told the commission.

Town Hall

More on Gorelick:

On Aug. 22, 1996, just a few days before the start of the Democratic National Convention, Ms. Gorelick oversaw a critical Justice Department meeting with the FBI. Immediately after this meeting, as it happened, all serious inquiry into the fate of TWA 800 came to an end.

On the next day, for instance, the FAA began to inquire whether any dog-training exercises had ever taken place on the plane that would become TWA 800. On the same day, as CNN reported, the FBI now claimed publicly for the first time that the explosive residue found along the right wing "could have been brought on the plane by a passenger and was not part of a bomb." Likewise, after the meeting, the FBI would do no more eyewitness interviews, at least not for the next two months. The Bureau only did a handful after that – and all of those for the wrong reasons.

WND

"Evidence strongly suggests it was Gorelick – not the ineffectual Freeh – who not only misdirected the FBI's investigation into Oklahoma City, but also the FBI investigation into TWA Flight 800. The parallels between the two cases are shocking. And in each case, the Clinton administration constrained the FBI for the same reason: to advance the re-election chances of its standard bearer. "

Although [Jayna]Davis does not document Gorelick's role in Oklahoma City, media accounts routinely describe her as the director of the Oklahoma City task force, the so-called "field commander." As Davis has told me, someone in Washington called the FBI in Oklahoma City and issued a two-word directive on its investigation into Islamic terrorism: "Kill it."

Oklahoma City, TWA Flight 800, and the Gorelick connection

"He wasn't brushed off," Mr. Felzenberg said of the officer. "I'm not aware of anybody being brushed off. The information that he provided us did not mesh with other conclusions that we were drawing" from the commission's investigation.

Do you mean the conclusion that it was all Bush's fault?
