Its ironic...but I think that 'Christian compassion' is one of the talking points / emotional appeals that will be used to hold part of the Republican base together in this march towards the late Robert Bartley inspired open / borderless society.

"Compassion" didn't work for Mondale. Busing couldn't be credibly sold by limousine liberals who sent their kids to private or suburban schools. People aren't stupid. They figure out pretty quickly who is being asked to pick up the tab and who is freeloading. They wlll have no difficulty seeing through the kind of guilt trip bayourod tried to lay down.

Open borders can't be sold by people who can wall themselves away from poverty, violence, and chaos pouring into the lives of most Americans.

Q: What BIG promise did President Bush make to Christians if they would reelect him?

A: A constitutional amendment to create federal law that marriage is a union between a man and a woman.

Yeah.

Funny how that kinda fell between the cracks. And that would be a much easier political battle than, "matching willing employers with willing workers to do jobs Americans won't do."

OK..got it!

I repeat my assertion above...I think it is ironic that immigration reform will be attempted to be sold partly as a Christian compassion issue.

It is ironic because socially conservative Jews and Christians (including Catholics and blacks) were among the key crossover groups that put Bush back into the White House. Now their belief structure will be a wedge issue dividing them.

It appears the open border apologists are already trying to play the Christian/compassion card but not too many are buying:

Illegal immigration polarizes Christians

A third party is what happens and what should happen when politicians flatly refuse to listen to the people.

You mean like the Pubbies in 1860? :)

President Bush said he had political capital to spend and guess what - he ALREADY SPENT IT - on the Border!

Christians marshalled behind him in historical numbers not seen in over a hundred years - and for WHAT?

The political capital being spent now is being spent at the expense of the GOP for at least another twenty years.

Guess who your next president will be?

_"___Which ineffectual losing party do you vote for now?"

You're funny, you are so infatuated with "winning" that you don't spend a second to stop and see what it is you've "won".

.............Which is darned near nothing.

I'd rather vote my conscious.

No.

Read my earlier post. "Compassion" isn't working for the OBL types any better than it worked for Mondale. Do not cast your pearls before swine. Do not let your Christian charity be exploited. It is NOT splitting evangelicals.

Excellent analogy between the limousine liberals who pushed busing for the people who could not afford private schools, and the RINO's who isolate themselves from the open borders they promote. The MS13 gang rape initiation never happens in their gated communities, the only effect they see is that the due's at the country club are lower due to all the illegals.

So George W. Bush and Hillary Clinton have the same open borders policy. And this is supposed to convince us the Dubya is the second coming of the Messiah how?

Read your article. Reiterates what I said to a tee.

It is divisive within faiths too. A blue collar devout Catholic from PA in the building trades will not necessarily hold with the illegal immigration views of the Catholic bishops of Mexico City.

Tell me that those Republican politicians pushing this political and cultural daisy cutter bomb are at least doing so based on a sincerely held but misguided belief...not as a result of some cynical political calculation...or even worse...special interest campaign cash or personal financial gain.

The open border crowd is getting desperate aren't they? Lately I've also been hearing the "it's for the children" line that we should look the other way to what's going on.
