Jagger Says Song Not an Anti-Bush Tirade (MICK STARTS DANCIN' BACKWARDS)

The Rolling Stones' upcoming album contains a song seemingly critical of President Bush, but Mick Jagger denies it's directed at him, according to the syndicated TV show "Extra."

"It is not really aimed at anyone," Jagger said on the entertainment-news show's Wednesday edition. "It's not aimed, personally aimed, at President Bush. It wouldn't be called 'Sweet Neo Con' if it was."

The song is from the new album, "A Bigger Bang," set for release Sept. 6. There is no mention of Bush or Iraq. But it does refer to military contractor Halliburton, which was formerly run by Vice President Cheney and has been awarded key Iraq contracts, and the rising price of gasoline.

"How come you're so wrong? My sweet neo-con, where's the money gone, in the Pentagon," goes one refrain.

The song also includes the line: "It's liberty for all, democracy's our style, unless you are against us, then it's prison without trial."

"It is certainly very critical of certain policies of the administration, but so what! Lots of people are critical," Jagger told "Extra."

A representative for the Stones said the group had no further comment about the song.

The Rolling Stones intend to kick off a U.S. tour in Boston Aug. 21.

"Maybe Mick will die of old age before the season begins"

Now honestly, what good are statements like this? Some of you are going way overboard imo. It's not right thinking on the Stones' part, but its Rock n Roll. It's meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Is it going to inflame the Jihadists? Right, like they're going to REALLY hate the west now. The Jihadists are already as far off their rockers, no pun intended, as they can be.

ON the other hand, I'd love to see their caterwalling describe how despicable Muslim Jihadists are. Anyway, the Stones have always been so-called anti-establishment, so this is nothing new. Rant over.

I have to say I'm very surprised by this...the Stones have always been right of center and very pro-America...

Well, who said that being anti-neocon is the same thing as being anti-America?

my email to the NFL

To who it may concern:

If you decide to use the Rolling Stones to promote your organization, I will decide to boycott the upcoming football season. I will not give my time, money, or attention to those who openly mock my values. The Stones have done so with their new song "Sweet Little Neo-Con" This is not the first email, nor will it the last from people who agree with me. I ask that you reconsider your move to endorse the Rolling Stones.

Why he'd want to piss off the generation that is his audience is astounding. If he thinks that the younger generation will start buying his old, tired stuff he's gravely (no pun intended) mistaken. I will never buy another Rolling Stone CD.

The original grungy-looking band. That was my first impression of the rolling stones when they started out. Anyway, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...

The Stones know that all they need to do is bash Bush and they'll get plenty of press.

It's a song written specifically for media attention.

It's more the same as being anti-Semitic using the liberal code word.

Ref: This will doom the Stones tour just like the Dixie Chicks anti-Bush comments doomed their tour.

I hope so! I will be interested to see if they are still hired by the NFL for the Monday Night Football intro. IF so, I am sure I can find a hockey game or something else to do on Monday nights.

Did Jesse Jackson write the lyrics?
