The Rolling Stones' upcoming album contains a song seemingly critical of President Bush, but Mick Jagger denies it's directed at him, according to the syndicated TV show "Extra."
"It is not really aimed at anyone," Jagger said on the entertainment-news show's Wednesday edition. "It's not aimed, personally aimed, at President Bush. It wouldn't be called 'Sweet Neo Con' if it was."
The song is from the new album, "A Bigger Bang," set for release Sept. 6. There is no mention of Bush or Iraq. But it does refer to military contractor Halliburton, which was formerly run by Vice President Cheney and has been awarded key Iraq contracts, and the rising price of gasoline.
"How come you're so wrong? My sweet neo-con, where's the money gone, in the Pentagon," goes one refrain.
The song also includes the line: "It's liberty for all, democracy's our style, unless you are against us, then it's prison without trial."
"It is certainly very critical of certain policies of the administration, but so what! Lots of people are critical," Jagger told "Extra."
A representative for the Stones said the group had no further comment about the song.
The Rolling Stones intend to kick off a U.S. tour in Boston Aug. 21.
You are right. I thought of that right after I posted it.
Hey Will, my hips may hurt after jogging, and I am soon destined for the Sky. The diference between us seems to be I know it but you still think it won't happen to you. "Soon" is relative, my man. (try to bum me out will you?) No way!
There's many a bar-room queen I've had in Jackson
But I just can't seem to drink you off my mind It's the honky tonk women
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues
Absolutely. And I have a right to consider this a tempest in a teapot.
If you like the music, fine, if you don't, fine. Who cares what they think? I don't boycott Ben & Jerry's ice cream because of their politics, I still prefer Heinz ketchup even though the Widow Heinz is a dip, and I still like the less smelly French cheeses.
My panties remain remarkably unbunched by political kerfluffles.
I only use catsup...
Some, but not all. Some remain cool. See, e.g., B.B. King, Eric Clapton.

Thank you....I stand corrected. And add Long John Baldry to that list. Passed away last week I believe. Gave Rod Stewart his first gig in his group Steampacket. There are class acts, and then there are groups like the Stones
""How come you're so wrong? My sweet neo-con, where's the money gone, in the Pentagon,".....or up Mick's arm.....
Those are two musicians who aged well. Their last cd together was fantastic and I hope they do another one.
I have to say I'm very surprised by this...the Stones have always been right of center and very pro-America...
just funnin ya....
If it weren't for the boomers, we wouldn't have had a lot of really great things, like the love-ins with all the ugly, hairy people,
the classic Ford Pinto,
wheat germ,
perms on white guys,
the great disco crisis of '78,
self-indulgence,
polyester bell-bottoms,
race riots,
fiscal mis-management,
social irresponsibility,
pet rocks,
urban collapse,
and the perhaps the quintessential Symbol of Male Baby Boomers:
President William Jefferson Clinton.
My students vaguely remember Clinton. They are pretty sure He was "from the sixties" and something that used to be relevant, something called ......a "democrat".
The college freshmen today like some of the music from the Boomers, they say it helps them lay around the dorm and avoid work, which is uncanny, because it had the exact same effect on their grandparents.....
But don't worry, when I get up there, the thug little kids we have today will be all grown up, and they will be harvesting my one good hip to sell on eBay, version 2065.
I like the baby boomers, i really do.
The Perpetual 13 year olds of the Baby Boom, much like Bill Clinton, have never let me down....
So, stay groovy, and Keep on Truckin' \/
and remember, I'm just teasin', 15 years from now my kids will be telling me to shove my antique blackberry and dusty old iPod up my geriatic @$$.....
Thanks. I try.
Ozzy is a great choice, he can set his alarm for Thursday, call in on Friday and promise to show up Monday (repeat) (Come to think of it he would make a great Senator from Massachusetts)
Especially if you put him in an Oldsmobile.

When they say, "It's not about the money." It's about the money. The fact that he had to say it isn't about the president means, of course, it is about the president. But, to tell you the truth, I doubt the president cares one way or the other what Mick thinks of him. Mick didn't gain his celebrity by being a great thinker.
I wasn't fan enough to buy a record, but when friends asked me to go to the concerts, I went. It was quite a show, both times, if you enjoy feeling nasty, but I still didn't buy any records.
Mick went to London School of Economics. But whatever personal conservatism may have been attributed to him, nothing ever stopped him from catting around extensively, whether married or not.
Ah, the (comparatively) little-known "Country Honk."
