"Flip-flopping"Americans-Right-wing bloggers are attacking military mom Cindy Sheehan (FR mentioned)

Aug. 9, 2005 | Cindy Sheehan, the angry 48-year-old mom from Vacaville, Calif., whose son died while serving in the Army in Iraq and who has been staging a lonely bring-the-troops-home vigil outside President Bush's ranch beneath the baking Texas sun, has clearly become a thorn in the president's vacationing side. Putting a public and empathetic face on the war's toll in America, Sheehan, whose son, Casey, was killed in April 2004, has posed a very simple request to Bush: Come out and talk to me about Iraq and why my son died. .........

Taking peculiar pleasure in trying to discredit the small-town mother, right-wingers have been in a tizzy over what they perceive as a flip-flop by Sheehan on Iraq. They excitedly reassure themselves that her alleged inconsistency about the war ought to disqualify her from being a legitimate war critic. Problem is, the oddly playful bloggers, busy mocking Sheehan as a "crazy," "exploited," "left-wing moonbat," aren't really staring down a lone mother who may or may not have shifted her opinion about Bush and the war since 2004.

.......Over the weekend conservatives at the Free Republic unearthed a June 25, 2004, article from Sheehan's hometown newspaper, the Reporter, which detailed Sheehan's visit with Bush at Fort Lewis near Seattle earlier that month. Portions of the article suggested Sheehan was grateful for her time with Bush, in contrast with her current complaints about him. Freepers then passed along the clip to Matt Drudge, who talked about it on his Sunday-night syndicated radio show. On Monday morning he hyped his analysis on his Web site, concluding that Sheehan "has dramatically changed her account about what happened when she met the commander-in-chief last summer!"

and when she is done with them she runs out of things to say and ends the interview.

Bingo. She was on Michael Smirkonish's (sp?) radio show this morning in the Philadelphia area. All she did was read an obviously prepared statement, and then hang-up. The host's attempts to ask her questions about what she was saying, or even to get a word in edgewise, were ignored. She's just a puppet of the left at this point. I'm grateful for her son's sacrifice, but she shouldn't be given any credibility.

I feel for this mother and the death of her son BUT THIS IS A VOLUNTARY MILTARY IN THIS COUNTRY... HER SON MADE HIS DECISION!!!!!!!!
I am so glad you said that. I have been thinking it every time I have read these articles. Did she think her son was going off to summer camp? My 11 year old son even knows that if you go in the military there is a chance you might die.

I want to ask a genuine question because what I know about war tactics wouldn't fill the head of a pin.

What would comprise "taking the gloves off"?

Why is my meeting in June of 2004 relevant?

Because it proves you're lying, Cindy. Y'know, credibility. Something you're rapidly running out of.

You are right. SHE WILL NOT BE ON O'REILLY: This just in from the Dark Side:

Cindy Sheehan called Bill O'Reilly an Abomination

I rush transcribed this: ( blogcall with Cindy )

Last night Bill O'Reilly said Cindy was appearing on his show tonight. I asked her today is she was going on with Bill to talk about her situation. At first she said that she thought she would, but after hearing what O'Reilly said about her she told the show she would go on only if he apologized for lying about her. She then said she "will not dignify" his show by going on now and called him an Abomination.

Dave Johnson asked her what she would ask the President if she does meet with her. She said she'll ask the President what the noble cause is for the U.S. going to war. "Does he encourage his daughters to enlist?"

Peter Daou talked about how the media is still making Natalie Hollaway the lead story in the news. She said that she fells the Holloway's pain, but also said that MSNBC cancelled two interviews with her yesterday....

Saddam is gone, they've had free democratic elections in Iraq, and our troops are still there." ...***

So? WWII ended 60 years ago and our troops are still in Germany. Does she think we should have headed home right after the Nazis surrendered?

She lasted less than two minutes on Bruce Jacobs in the Morning here on KFYI.
Wish I had heard that one. I love Bruce Jacobs. What happened?

She'll be prominently featured in Michael Moore's next movie, you can bet on that.

I don't know if you are aware that not only did Sheehan have the meeting with Bush last year, but over the weekend two members of Bush's staff went out and talked at length with Sheehan's entourage outside the Crawford ranch. How many "nobodies" get that kind of access to the POTUS? Not me, for sure.

Any host having Mrs. Sheehan on as a guest should save time and just go on to Michael Moore's website, read the talking points, and concede that is what Sheehan will say. Then see if she has anything to add. She would sit there speechless.

The war in Iraq is long over. Coalition forces in Iraq are performing internal security until the Iraqi forces can take over.

The ongoing effort against the transnational terrorists and their supporters is ongoing. Syria and Iran are next in line as far as the supporters go.

Obviously, her son didn't inherit his bravery from her half of the gene pool.

He was willing to face armed enemies, filled with intent to kill him, for what he believed in. She can't even face a milquetoast like O'Reilly, with a couple tough questions.
