Aug. 9, 2005 | Cindy Sheehan, the angry 48-year-old mom from Vacaville, Calif., whose son died while serving in the Army in Iraq and who has been staging a lonely bring-the-troops-home vigil outside President Bush's ranch beneath the baking Texas sun, has clearly become a thorn in the president's vacationing side. Putting a public and empathetic face on the war's toll in America, Sheehan, whose son, Casey, was killed in April 2004, has posed a very simple request to Bush: Come out and talk to me about Iraq and why my son died. .........
Taking peculiar pleasure in trying to discredit the small-town mother, right-wingers have been in a tizzy over what they perceive as a flip-flop by Sheehan on Iraq. They excitedly reassure themselves that her alleged inconsistency about the war ought to disqualify her from being a legitimate war critic. Problem is, the oddly playful bloggers, busy mocking Sheehan as a "crazy," "exploited," "left-wing moonbat," aren't really staring down a lone mother who may or may not have shifted her opinion about Bush and the war since 2004.
.......Over the weekend conservatives at the Free Republic unearthed a June 25, 2004, article from Sheehan's hometown newspaper, the Reporter, which detailed Sheehan's visit with Bush at Fort Lewis near Seattle earlier that month. Portions of the article suggested Sheehan was grateful for her time with Bush, in contrast with her current complaints about him. Freepers then passed along the clip to Matt Drudge, who talked about it on his Sunday-night syndicated radio show. On Monday morning he hyped his analysis on his Web site, concluding that Sheehan "has dramatically changed her account about what happened when she met the commander-in-chief last summer!"

"During the Clinton years, the MSM imediately did thorough background checks on all Clinton critics, pointing out their political affiliations, motivations, funding sources, personal peccadillos, etc. But that kind of analysis is now considered off-limits when it comes to Bush's critics."
Hell, they tried to throw an election based on forgeries from a man who had been institutionalized for mental illness--Bill Burkett.
I looked up her property tax records yesterday, and she has unpaid taxes from years past.
Apparently, she is not just now starting to fail to pay taxes.
It looks that way, doesn't it?
It certainly does. Where's the Dad in this story?
thanks for the link, btw
That is one I missed in my search for public records yesterday, and it is great.....
I was looking all over for that lien she has against her!
Why thank you! "If" Uncle Sam calls, I'll for sure let FR know. :)
.
My thoughts exactly, Rosemont. (Sorry I'm a little late to the party but some of us have to go out into the field to earn a living ";^)) If someone was accusing me of killing her son, I rather think I would not bother to give her the time of day, especially when she has already had face time with the president.
She has a form of Munchausen by Proxy. LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME. She's using her son's death for attention, and that's just sick.
They obviously have a sugar-daddy.
Gosh---she might be getting subsidized by Novak and Buchanan also!!!

Cindy Sheehan at the Veterans for Peace National Convention

The Veterans for Peace National Convention wraps up today at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas.
Thursday and Friday saw the vets check-in, and attend workshops that varied from Stan Goffs Gender & Militarism to Speaking Truth to Power which featured Ann Wright, Coleen Rowley, and Jesselyn Radack.
Friday night featured keynote speakers and entertainers at Lynch Hall, on campus. They all had great things to say, and Cindy Sheehan was no exception.
Here is what she had to say:
Cindy Sheehan: Its so great to be here...
So anyway, Im gonna go to Crawford tomorrow, and Im gonna say I want to talk to him, and they say, hes not coming out, Im gonna set up my tent there until he comes out to talk to me.
And I have the whole month of August off, just like him. Its just the way it worked out, I was supposed to go to England tomorrow to do some Downing Street things, but Conyers cancelled, so hey, I have a lot of free time on my hands, and Im gonna stay until he comes out and talks to me. And if he quits his vacation and goes to D.C., Ill pull my tent up, Ill go to D.C., and put it on the White House lawn, and Ill be waiting for you guys when you get there September 24th.
Another thing that Im doing is - - my son was killed in 2004, so Im not paying my taxes for 2004. If I get a letter from the IRS, Im gonna say, you know what, this war is illegal; this is why this war is illegal. This war is immoral; this is why this war is immoral. You killed my son for this. I dont owe you anything. And if I live to be a million, I wont owe you a penny.
And I want them to come after me, because unlike what youve been doing with the war resistance, I want to put this frickin war on trial. And I want to say, You give me my son, and Ill pay your taxes.
I live in Bacaville, come and get me if you can find me there and put me on trial, because like Camilo (Mejia), Camilo knew what was right. And he went to prison for that. And Henry David Thoreau he went to prison, he refused to pay his poll tax, and Emerson, I call them HT and RW, and RW came to visit HT and said what are you doing here, buddy? And HT said, why arent you here? This is the only place for a moral person in an immoral world.
Its up to us, the people, to break immoral laws, and resist. As soon as the leaders of a country lie to you, they have no authority over you. These maniacs have no authority over us. And they might be able to put our bodies in prison, but they cant put our spirits in prison. And I know that Camilo came out a much stronger person, hes one of my heroes, its great a row of heroes in front of me here.

Who Flipped Then Flopped?
Any confrontation should be made by military moms. That's the only way this woman can be taken on without the media going nuts. It's going to take a whole bunch of military moms staring her down.
"It certainly does. Where's the Dad in this story?"
He divorced her. Big shock, huh?
The rest of the family--her other children, appear to think she's a nutbag. They seem to be pro-Bush and for the war.
Nice tool -- but what does it all mean?
Didnt you find the track record of tax evasion interesting?
