No idea what he did, but obviously he is suspect of doing something.

Sorry to hear about something like this again, but I'm happy the armed services are doing the house cleaning if it is needed.

hmm Used to play soccer with Gen Byrnes's son. LTG Wallace sounds familiar as well.

He was just promoted to General in 2002,
so this is probably not a situation of
cleaning out Clinton PC deadwood.

"Unlike the Marine Corps, whose credo is that
every Marine is first and foremost a rifleman,
the Army has too many soldiers who have lost
touch with their inner warrior, said Gen.
Kevin P. Byrnes, the Army’s top training general."

Could this be related to not meeting recruitment goals?

My brother was a colonel assigned to TRADOC at Ft. Monroe. He's probably worked with these guys directly.

When it's a four star and no mention of the offense, it's highly likely that zipper failure is involved.

No idea here, but were I a gambling man...

"...obviously he is suspect of doing something."
Or nothing. Indeed, it could give rise to "he was not doing anything, but he WAS NOT DOING ANYTHING!" and other such puns.

Gen. Kevin P. Byrnes has been charged with failing to remove his shoes and prostrate himself when a detainee opened his Koran.

Holy Moly! This is big. Off the top of my head, I can't think of another Army 4-Star being relieved, openly, in the last 45 years. Probably one or two, I just can't think of any.

Wesley was brought back early from NATO.
Kernan was forced out at the end of his two years at Joint Forces Command.
Was it Warner (or Wagner) in Panama (SOUTHCOM) who was eased out for Mad Max Thurman just before we invaded?

We are certainly living in interesting times.

Rummy and Myers have a Pentagon news briefing at 1:15. C-SPAN will carry. No doubt questions will be asked about this issue.

DEFENSE POLICY
Pentagon Press Briefing
Def. Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Richard Myers hold a Pentagon press briefing. Despite hopes of reducing U.S. troop strength in Iraq by next spring, Sec. Rumsfeld is expected to respond to questions about the need to raise troop levels in the interim.

Just as I thought, Rummy deflected the first question. That will be it for now but the nature of the General's misconduct will come out soon, I'm sure.
