NEED ADVICE ON STARTING A NEW 3RD PARTY
Self | 6 August 2005 | 11th_VA

Posted on 08/08/2005 5:08:17 PM PDT by 11th_VA

Curious if other Freepers out there have gone thru any hoops to start a new political party. I'm interested in starting/joining a party for Middle Americans that would support the following:

1) Support organized immigration to the United Sates thru annual numerical limitations on Visas and enforcement of borders; Sanction companies that hire illegal aliens.

2) Recognizing that the outcome of the 1973 Roe V. Wade has seriously divide the country, would support efforts to return the question of the legality of abortion to State legislatures.

3) Freeze federal spending at current levels to alleviate deficit.

Need to know:

Which states have easy ballot access?

If only 10 congress memebers were 3rd party affiliates, they could do alot in a divded congress (ie; The Gang of 14).

Comments and suggestions welcome - let's talk!

I agree with all your points. You have no chance of being elected.

Yup! Just start your own party. No one has thought of that one before.

Ross Perot tried to do this and gave us 8 years of a Clinton presidency.

Count me out.

Change your party affiliation to "Independent" and stop sending them your money. If all else fails, quit paying taxes. You won't give a crap then. :-)

Electing Members of Congress is critical.

Running a candidate for President is idiotic.

Electing Members of Congress is critical.

That's the plan - electing one on the above platform could be HUGE. Could probably get at least one current member to change his/her current affiliation as well.

What is a Middle American? And for future reference, the Republicans are darn near a third party in Portland.

We've already got too many third parties.

First and second ones, too, IMHO.

Like unions- only interested in the naked acquisition and exercise of power.

There maybe some of the machinery of the Reform Party, or whatever it's called today, in place that could be a starting point. The Libertarins always have several candidates on the ballots in many elections....

You may could win a Reps seat or two but it would be extremely difficult to win a statewide seat such as a Senator with a 3rd party effort, imo.
