As a conservative Democrat, I am encouraged that a significant number of Democratic Senators supported this common sense legislaton to ban lawsuits against gun manufacturers when their guns are used by criminals. Democrats need to strongly support Second Amendment rights and mandatory sentences from criminals who use guns to commit crimes. I think that may be the start of a pro-gun rights trend among Democrats.

Now if they could defeat the bullet ID bill in Kalifornia I'd be happy. If the Kali bill passes it will open up a whole new front in the gun control wars.

Conservative Democrat huh? That's an oxymoron as ridiculous as pretty ugly. What makes you a Democrat?

I'm sorry, but fat chance. The Democrats know this is a losing issue for them. Nevertheless, they aren't smart enough or honest enough to take a pro-gun rights position. And if they do, like in this case, it is only window dressing.

Not as long as the hard-core SOCIALISTS are still running the DNC and party. Until these mongrel rats are cleaned out and the Dems once again start focusing on WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY, as opposed to WHAT IS RIGHT TO INSTALL THEIR SOCIALIST POWER, they will foreever be anti-Constitutional, anti-American, anti-everything that is part of American heritage and foundation.

The only reason they went along was because it included
Mandatory gun locks be encluded with each sale, that
and it was going to pass anyway.

It would go against their bylaws for being a DemoRat.
Rule #14 for being a Dem.
The Patriot Act is a horrific compromise of Constitutional rights, but anti-Second Amendment laws and Franklin Roosevelt's Presidential Order 9066 must be regarded "reasonable precautions.
And Rule #22
The People" in the First Amendment means The People; "the People" in the Fourth Amendment means The People; "the People" in the Ninth Amendment means The People; "the People" in the Tenth Amendment means The People; but "the People" in the Second Amendment (ratified in 1791) means the National Guard (created by an Act of Congress in 1903).

Some Republicans are moderate to liberal so why shouldn't there be conservative Democrats ? My party affiliation is at least partly traditional as I am a southern Democrat. I hold conservative views on most social issues but populist on economic issues. Republicans are a little too pro-big business and anti-labor for my taste. I certainly don't agree with much of the current Democratic Party leadership as it is too socially liberal and politically correct. Unless one of the major parties wakes up and acknowledges the voters who are angry about so-called "free trade" and illegal immigration there will be a strong third party movement. Check out my blog which has current articles and archives at http://www.rightdemocrat.blogspot.com and it will tell more about what I stand for.

This is the next Demoncrat equivalent to Star Trek. "To go where no man has gone before". This is as loony as the "ballistic fingerprinting" scheme. Even California AG Lockler has had to hide the report that "fingerprinting" does not work.

Was that your personal list? I thought it was a generic list you got from somewhere. I guess I should be giving you credit for it then.

hillary was at least honest and showed her true self by voting against the 2nd amendment.
The only Pubbie who voted against was dewine(OH).

We know how this game is played. Yep you only need to look back to 1994 to read the play book. There might be a lot of conservative democrats out there. But everyone knows if the democrats ever get control of the house or senate the safe leadership of the party will start grabbing every gun in sight.

I seem to remember some bad amendments were included in the bill at one point. Anybody know the info?

I was just thinking of the late Mike Synar from Oklahoma.
He was one of the "good Democrats" who took NRA money, then double-crossed gun owners when William the Slick pushed his button.

I think that may be the start of a pro-gun rights trend among Democrats.Nope. This is just a decision by Senate Dims in red states to not pick this particular hill to die on because there's nothing in it for them. So they hold their noses and vote for it to try and fool the rubes back home, all the while crossing their fingers and figuring which court is most likely to overturn it and then working to steer it toward that court.
