Reputed Hitler kin diary cites family hell

Adolf Hilter was terrorized by a tyrannical father and became a teenage bully who beat his baby sister regularly, according to newly discovered diaries.

"Once again I feel my brother's loose hand across my face," Paula Hitler reportedly wrote in a journal uncovered by American historian Timothy Ryback and German researcher Florian Beierl.

Another memoir, this one purportedly written by Hitler's half-brother Alois and half-sister Angela, recounted a scene where Hitler's mother, Klara, threw herself over her son's body to protect him. "Without a sound she absorbs it," the memoir states.

"This is a picture of a completely dysfunctional family that the public has never seen before," Beierl told The Guardian, a respected British newspaper. "The terror of the Third Reich was cultivated in Hitler's own home."

"What I would more likely buy is that parents of serial killers and other miscreants share genes that predisposes them to this type of behavior."

This seems to be the case and abuse and/or neglect seem to be behaviors that come with the genetic disposition.

???? I'm probably wrong (and not in the mood to do any Googleizing) but didn't he change his name to Hitler as an adult, from something like Schickelgruber??

True. Another factor which seems to contribute is lack of maternal bonding. Although feminists dispute this one, of course.

He did indeed (change his name from Schickelgruber, Schickelnickel, Pumpernickel, whatever) to "Hitler").

Imagine millions of Germans shrieking "HEIL SCHICKELGRUBER!"

I can almost hear Adolf talking to himself, "nooo, that won't work".

Alice Miller a professional in the field has written
many books on this subject including, "For Your Own Good"
which has a chapter on Hitler and his family.
It does not excuse what he did ( the man was pure evil)
but explains how a person can be pushed along to this.

Same story with Stalin -- abusive homelife, with two bad parents. If I'm remembering right, Saddam had a bad childhood, too.

He did indeed change his name

Sure leads me to believe me that the story is more amateurish than the one Buckhead busted..."Paula Hitler" was even lazier at Googleizing than ErnBatavia!

It was his father, Alois, who changed his name from Schickelgruber to Hitler. Alois was illegitmate and so took his mother's name. His father, Johann Hiedler, eventually legitimized him and so he became Alois Hitler. Adolf was apparently a teenager at the time.

Adolph's father was born Alois Schickelgruber. Alois's unwed mother later married a man named Hitler or Heidler. When Alois stood to inherit from his childless stepfather, he changed his name legally to Hitler.

Adolph was never known by the name Schickelgruber.

But yes, Schickelgruber would never have worked as a dictator's name.

So you'd argue that the percentage of serial killers that were physically or sexually abused by their parents isn't any higher than the general population as a whole?

Certainly not. It is most definitly a causal factor in the development of a sociopathic mindset. However, I resent it when it is used as a blanket excuse for bad behavior. And I certainly resent it when it is used to sidestep the existance of Evil, in the favor of the touchy-feely idea that "there is no evil, only bad human choices."

Do you think we should try and understand the causes of violence and evil ? Do you think this puzzle is solvable ?

Sounds fishy. Why aren't Ryback and Beierl providing access and proofs? They seem to be collecting as much money as they can before presenting the document to their peers for examination.

Re: Alois, Adolf, Schickelgruber, Hitler, Et Al

(What a law firm name THAT would be eh?)

I stand corrected, and you are of course correct, it was Adolf's father that had the surname of Schickelgruber, I had completely forgotten that.

Never struck ONCE in my life- yet I've been called a 'homicadal maniac' on this board for my views on Muslims. LOL
What Hitler added to the mix of his genetics and family condition was personal EVIL.
It does exist. He was it. It is the deciding factor when serial killers emerge from situations that did not similarly affect others they grew up with, as well as when the family did everything right and still ended up with Jeffery Dahmer in the family tree.
EVIL. The consistent factor so few want to recognize.
