The Threat Matrix
The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.
"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."
We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research. |

I'm pretty sure those trucks were either in Alabama or Mississippi. Semi trucks [100's]. It seems to me they need to have smaller trucks to get water/food and ice and generators to as many as possible. There are some roads cleared to So Ala and Miss as of yesterday, reporters got in.
[New Orleans is a different story] If the reporters can get in and out emergency services should be able to as well. Even Fox reporters got out of NO to Baton Rouge and back last night.
I agree, and posted that everyone needs to prepare to be without help for days in the event of an emergency. Of course if your house and car flood you're screwed and have to rely on whatever help may come.

Any way one shakes it, even under best conditions, it is going to be a logistics nightmare.

Thanks for the post Jeff.
"Terrorists Discuss How Al-Qaeda Favors Tuesday's for Days of Attack"
OPINION- Well, Tuesdays just aren't a good days to attack. I like to read
old history books, have a cup of tea and get a manicure on Tuesdays.
Oops, comes to think about it a little more, NO days are good for an attack.
Incredible how the terrorists are dropping dead and/or being captured these days. The good guys know fighting terrorism is more than a Tuesday thing.

ExSoldier gave me the heads up that TM 30 should be coming along soon...
I've been so swamped with this hurricane, and starting grad school, that I have fallen behind a bit. If anyone has good links, stories, whatever, for the next thread... please let me know. I will start work on it today, and hopefully finish shortly. I was planning on revamping for #30, but I need to put that off for now.

Bubba lost his briefcase.
Well, next time he buys a briefcase; he most likely
won't forget to keep it with him.
I hope he was billed for all the time emergency
services worked on that briefcase.

Thanks nw.
Off hand, I think the next thread might highlight 9/11 (before, during, after) and/or Emergency Preparation/Readiness for a variety of emergencies (both natural and manmade).

As we have said many times everyone needs to be prepared to fend for themselves for weeks if need be. Use this as an example!!!That's what I've been thinking about for the last 24 hours or so.
Help is so slow to arrive that it's stunning.
To: ExSoldier
Hang on to hope.
There have been hundreds of rescues from that area.
To: nwctwx
Do what you have to do, and thanks for all the work you have done. Our topic is a little further back on the burner, at the present time, but our blood enemies have not gone away.

It's infuriating to sit here and watch it!
Shep Smith just put a NO police spokeswoman on the spot about all the people standing on the freeway and no one is telling them how to get help. [just about yelling at her] NG trucks just pass them by and they are empty. Police cars just pass them by. Someone could at least bring them water FGS.

i've come across the 11 day warning on a number of sites- depending how you read it, it works out to being either 9/9,9/10 or 9/11.
Thoughts?

Date: Tue, 30 Aug 2005 From: ProMED-mail Source: FDA.gov [edited] ----------------------------------------------------------------- Nationwide recall of Trypan Blue 0.06 percent ophthalmic -------------------------------------------------------- Custom RX Compounding Pharmacy of Richfield, Minnesota, is initiating a nationwide recall of Trypan Blue 0.06 percent Ophthalmic Solution because it may be contaminated with _Pseudomonas aeruginosa_, a [type of] bacteria that, if applied to the eyes, might lead to serious injury, including possible blindness. Use of [the specific type of] Trypan Blue being recalled should stop immediately. --------------------------------------------------------------- Trypan Blue was distributed to hospitals and clinics in Maryland, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska, North Dakota, Michigan, District of Columbia, and Pennsylvania. This product is intended for ophthalmic use (in the eyes) during cataract surgery. FDA requires that all ophthalmic products be sterile. The solution is dark blue in appearance and is packaged in 1-cc sterile tuberculin syringes. Custom Rx Pharmacy is asking that all unexpired syringes be collected and returned to the pharmacy. The recall includes, but may not be limited to the following lot numbers: 05042005:86@17, 05252005:36@13, 06282005:91@27, 08012005:63@24, and 08182005:43@17. ______________________________________________________________--------------- The pharmacy has voluntarily recalled the products based on 2 reports of loss of vision possibly associated with use of the product as reported by CDC and a positive bacterial culture obtained at an outside hospital. Custom RX has verified the processes and technicians involved in the preparation of this medication. The pharmacy has been apprising the FDA of the recall efforts and is working [with] them on its investigation into the cause of the contamination. -------------------------------------------------------------- The pharmacy immediately began notifying customers and/or distributors and, working with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), has called each individual hospital and clinic to arrange for the return, destruction, and reimbursement of all recalled product. ------------------------------------------------------------------- -- ProMED-mail [The contact person at CDC regarding reporting cases is Rebecca Sunenshine, MD, Phone (404) 639-4792 or Email . ______________________________________________________________-_______ Post-cataract bacterial endophthalmitis -- an infection of the anterior (aqueous humor) or posterior (vitreous humor) segments of the eye or both -- is a devastating complication of this eye surgery. It is a medical emergency, because delayed or inadequate therapy may lead to irreversible vision loss, and this may occur even with ideal therapy. The incidence has been 0.1 to 0.2 percent in several large series. ------------------------------------------------------------------ In most cases of post-cataract endophthalmitis, the source of the offending bacteria is the patient's own eyelid or conjunctival microflora. Coagulase- negative staphylococci are most common (about 70 percent); _Staphylococcus aureus_ causes about 9 percent; other Gram-positive cocci (both alpha- and beta- hemolytic streptococci) 5 percent; and Gram-negative bacilli 6 percent. - Mod.LL] -------------------------------------------------------------------- [see also: 2002 ---- Pseudomonas, mouth product contaminated - Norway 20020412.3936] ...................................ll/pg/jw *##########################################################* *
