The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Was Bomber's "New York" Shirt A Message?
Full Story

It's hardly a unique fashion statement for a mass transit rider: a Yankees-style cap, and a "New York" sweat shirt.

But the New York Police Department is teaming with British authorities to determine whether those items were worn by suspects in the London terror cases to send a "purposeful message" to the city, according to an NYPD officials.

David Cohen, the NYPD's deputy commissioner of intelligence, raised the concern earlier this week at a security briefing for business leaders at police headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

Don't hang Sarabjit, pleads Pakistani politician:

Islamabad : Hanging Sarabjit Singh, the Indian convicted of spying, must not be allowed to become a "national embarrassment" for Pakistan, a senior politician says.

In an opinion piece in The News Friday titled "Why Sarabjit Singh must not be hanged", Senator Farhatullah Babar of the Pakistan People's Party has likened Sarabjit's case to that
of Alfred Dreyfus -- a Jewish captain in the French Army who was banished in 1894 after being accused of being a spy but was allowed to return home in 1906 when the charge
was found to be untrue.

"We may have serious differences with the Indians but it must not persuade us to hang every Indian at the drop of a hat. The Sarabjit Singh trial must not be allowed to become
our national embarrassment as was the Dreyfus trial in France. He must not be hanged," Babar maintained.

Besides, there have been innumerable cases in Pakistan where people have been executed on charges that were later found to be false, wrote Babar, considered the right hand man
of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, who lives abroad in self exile. Babar is a member of the Defence Committee of the Senate.

Babar focused on two aspects of the case: the condemned man saying he was Sarabjit Singh and not Manjit Singh, which is how the Pakistani authorities have named him, and that
the sentence had been passed on the basis of his confession.

"If the Indian convict is really a case of mistaken identity it would be a gross miscarriage of justice if he is hanged and many will not be able to come to terms with the trauma. If the
convict is really the alleged agent Manjit Singh, it would still be sensible to commute the death sentence as a unilateral step to break clean with the past when the two countries
launched covert operations inside each others territories," Babar wrote.

"Clemency is called for whether seen from the perspective of circumstances of the case or reliance on Sarabjit's confessions or claims to nab enemy agents," Babar added.

On the second aspect, he said: "There is no doubt that a confession in accordance with proper procedure forms a legal basis for convictions. But it is worth pondering whether
convictions on the basis of confession alone should be the prime candidate for clemency.

"This is important because the history of confessions and the history of claims made by security agencies of nabbing enemy agents make for painful reading."

He pointed to the murder of a man named Hakim Muhammad Saeed in Karachi in the 1990s and the confession of one Amirullah before journalists and before then prime minister
Nawaz Sharif. The prime minister was so impressed with the prosecution's story and Amirullah's confession that he ordered a special promotion for the investigating officer,
superseding some 40 of his seniors.

Amirullah later turned out to be innocent.

He cited another instance as well. On June 5, 1992 nine people were killed near Hyderabad in Sindh in what was described as a gun battle with the security forces.

The initial official reaction was that those killed were dacoits. Within hours, the official news agency APP retracted its earlier story and claimed that those killed were not dacoits
but terrorists who wanted to blow up a nearby thermal power station.

Inter-Services Public Relations also endorsed the APP story, saying the terrorists had a cache of arms including hand grenades and guns.

"The prime minister, who was visiting Sindh, was briefed before the TV cameras on how agents of India's intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agents had
been killed. Senior military and intelligence officers were present at the briefing. A beaming prime minister smiled triumphantly and there was prolonged applause over the daring
action by vigilant security forces," Babar wrote.

The local Sindhi press and the BBC were, however, suspicious and refused to accept the official version. They insisted that far from being RAW agents, the nine people were
actually innocent and unarmed tenants of a local landlord who had been killed in a staged fire-fight at the behest of one of his opponents.

"An inquiry revealed that the nine people were poor labourers aged 16 to 60 who were woken up early morning, shoved into vehicles and whisked away to a deserted (spot near
the) thermal power station where they were lined up and shot dead in cold blood at the behest of rivals of the local landlord. Those involved were tried and punished," Babar
wrote.

"The point to make is that while confessional statements before a court may have legal value, the circumstances and the manner in which they are secured also needs to be probed.
Another point is that those accused as enemy agents by our agencies have actually turned out to be poor labourers," the senator maintained.

Michael Graham is going on about Illegal Immigration, he
repeated the story about arresting illegals with fake documents at the border, who also had maps and details on
Washington DC.

Is that the DC5 song? Now all we need is to find out what is on page 5 of the illegals DC guide.

It is an old story, but it kinda fits.

Palestinians condemn killing of terrorists but not murder of Jewish student
By Michael Widlanski August 25, 2005

Palestinian officials and Palestinian media today universally condemned the Israeli army's killing last night
of five armed members of the Islamic Jihad terror organization that has carried out mass murder attacks
in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in recent months.

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and Palestinian prime minister Ahmad Qureia loudly condemned "the
Israeli crime," but they were silent about the Palestinian stabbing attack
in Jerusalem in which one Jewish yeshiva student was murdered and two wounded.

In its morning news round-up, Abbas's state-run Voice of Palestine radio actually called the dead and
wounded students "Israeli settlers" [Arabic: "mustawtaneen Isra'ilyyeen]-a symbolic way of saying that
they were legitimate targets for what Palestinians call "resistance operations."

"We will continue to attack Israelis wherever there are still settlers," asserted Hussein Basht, a leader of
Islamic Jihad, in an interview on Abu Dhabi satellite television, stressing the argument of Jihad and the
Hamas organization that attacking Israelis is still justified despite the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

The Jewish yeshiva students, who study at the Mir Yeshiva in the western part of Jerusalem, were
attacked by a Palestinian Arab man wielding a huge butcher knife not far from Jaffa Gate, a noted
tourist point in Jerusalem.

The unabashed support of the Palestinian Authority and the state-run or state-supported Palestinian
media for Jihad was evident in the way that the newspapers, state television and radio all called the
men "martyrs" and "citizens," even though their organization has murdered more than 30 Israeli civilians
in recent months.

"ISRAELI ASSASSINATION OF FOUR CITIZENS IN TULKARM CAMP," headlined the Palestinian daily
Al-Hayat al-Jadeeda that is run by Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah organization. [The Palestinian media later
announced five Jihad members had died, and Israeli officials said a sixth man, a leader of Hamas,
escaped.]

"THE HEROIC MARTYRDOM OF FOUR RESISTERS BY THE BULLETS OF ISRAELI SPECIAL FORCES IN THE
TULKARM REFUGEE CAMP," declared the Palestinian daily Al-Ayyam in a huge red-letter headline atop its
front page. Al-Ayyam is also run by the Fatah organization of Dr. Abbas, the chairman of the PLO and
the Palestinian Authority.

Today's Palestinian media treatment was far from being a departure from Palestinian policy. The heroic
treatment accorded the dead terrorists-and the Palestinian media acknowledged all the men were Jihad
gunmen-has continued largely unabated since Abbas came to power following the death of Yasser
Arafat in November last year.

While Abbas has periodically removed "martyr videos" from Palestinian television, he has supported the
use of other techniques-some of them very sophisticated-that suggest to the Palestinian audience that
the "struggle" or even "jihad" has not ended.

[See: http://www.alhayat-j.com/char.php?cid=177 ]

Even during the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the Palestinian leadership and media celebrated the victory
of "Palestinian resistance" and "Palestinian steadfastness" over "the Israeli Occupation" and even "the
Zionist enemy."

For example, in a Palestinian television show last week, former Palestinian Authority minister Imad Faluji
continually referred to Israel as "the enemy."

"The members of this Jihad unit were planning further attacks, and some of them had actually been
finding shelter inside buildings of the Palestinian Authority," declared an Col. Roni Noma, commander of
the Nahal battalion in Tulkarm in the northern part of the West Bank where Jihad has been most
prominent.

"The Palestinian Authority is not doing anything against these units, and we cannot just sit idly by,"
declared Col. Noma, who was interviewed by Israel's Channel 2.

Dr. Michael Widlanski is a specialist in Arab politics and communication whose doctorate dealt with the
Palestinian broadcast media. He is a former reporter, correspondent and editor, respectively, at The
New York Times ,The Cox Newspapers-Atlanta Constitution, and The Jerusalem Post.

LOL

During the Viet Nam war, a friend was in Cambodia, he said they had been there for weeks and at last came to a friendly village, who was preparing a feast for the Army men.

LOL....he said they planed on serving monkey, had it all dressed and on the roof of the grass huts........

To him they looked like human babies.

This man would eat anything, but he said he had skipped the monkey meat, after seeing them.

In typical Army supply fashion, they did the last part of the "teaching/spying" trip on Peanut Butter and Canned Tuna,
for many days.

From the sound of this article, it looks as tho the disease is going from animals to humans and back to the animals.

I would think that would give it lots of chance for mutations.

Yes, he has tried to expose the truths about illegals.

Have you listened to KDWN radio 720 on the am dial.

Monday thru Thursday at 10 pm Mark Edwards does an excellent program, only on the illegal problem.

He has guests and tries to cover it all.

Tonight at 10:30 there will be part of the program on, with
Jim Dallas as host, it will not be on every friday, due to football, but Jim did say he would be there tonight.

Las Vegas has major problems with illegals and also gangs.

We need more hosts, who are telling the truth.

I've been in and out recently... moving to school Sunday.

Watching this storm get wound up in the GOM... I'm thinking back to something I believe we came across last yr, jihadi posts/something, referencing Hurricanes.

The current projections would be possibly disastrous for a large portion of the drilling offshore LA... there is a major concentration of rigs there. There is already mass speculation that just shutting these down will drive gas prices up very quickly. If any are taken offline for months/forever, we could be into something even worse.

I don't know, but it seems to me they might have wanted to wait until something like that (high energy prices & natural disaster testing the gov't reponse) happens here before launching the next attack. Not to even mention the ramifications of a category 4 actually coming into the New Orleans area....

Hopefully the National Hurricane Center has their first major bust of the year with this one.

This might be out in left field... I just seemed to remember mention of Hurricanes in a jihadi post in the past. I wouldn't put it past an organization like AQ to put out an order and sit on it for a decade if needed...

NW, maybe they did not wait.

About 7;30 pm, on KFI radio, in the Los Angeles area, the url is above about 10 posts.

There was a clip, the speaker I think was a lady from AAA Auto Club.

She said that gas prices were going to go up, of course for the Labor Day travel, but part of the rise was damage to
two refineries in Northern California.

She said one was a fire and the other an accident. I didn't really catch the names, but the fire might have been Soro or sounded about like that, there is a Soccoro gas, I think.

The second refinery, may have been a Shell plant.

Several years ago, in the area of the oil wells, I think, this is from memory, but I did read the article and see the photos in a California newspaper.

As I recall it:

25 Chinese came in on one of the big ships, off the coast of
California, they were put in the water.

Those that could swim, did so, the others used empty gallon milk bottles to stay afloat.

Their clothes were in plastic bags, tied to the neck.

They made it to the pickup point at a Mall, then got caught.

So we do not relaly need scuba divers to come into the coast of California.

I don't know how many electric plants there on the coast of California, but 35 years ago, we would go to one of the nuclear plant areas for sea shells and pretty rocks on the beach.

When you think that a non-swimmer can reach them with empty milk bottles, you have to worry.

whats bugging me in a way is why is Hamas taking TOTAL credit for the partial disengagement by israel? Anybody notice how totally cocky they've gotten?

Hamas Says Shadowy Leader Makes First Videotaped Statement Since Early 1990s

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - The militant group Hamas on Saturday released a rare videotape of a man it said is the shadowy bombmaker who has eluded Israeli forces for more than a decade.
The man, who was identified as fugitive bombmaker Mohammed Deif, described Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip as a victory for armed resistance, rejected calls for his group to disarm, and vowed to continue attacks on Israel until the Jewish state is erased from the map.

http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGBLHMG4VCE.html

A big militant group we have to watch out for and most likely affiliated with AQ by now, they have only comments of victory and more destruction on the way yet they are recognized by the palestenian authority as a legal political party, but they are extremists also who dont want to seem to rest until Israel is hurt. A side issue we should pay close attn to, Imho.

Check out all the rigs in red (possible hurricane force)

Would certainly be a major problem if the storm is as powerful as forecast. Even as is, most will be evacuated so... prices will be on the rise.
