In this analysis, we can see that the domestic roots of America’s hegemonism are deep and solid. Before the U.S. falls from its hegemonic height, in order to shake its hegemonic thinking, we must eradicate America’s unitary ideology of freedom, change America’s nationalism and conceptual framework, make them believe that there are social systems and life styles in the world that are more admirable than America’s. When hearing foreigners’ criticism of America’s intervention everywhere, Americans often smugly quip, “of course, people all over the world are shouting ‘Yankees, Go home!’ but they always add, ‘bring me with you.’ This is the logic of the American hegemony! We can therefore conclude that only when there are no more boisterous assemblies of immigration and visa applicants in front of various American embassies overseas, and only when an outgoing emigration occurs in the United States, will the American hegemonic mentality be extinguished, will the age of multipolarity arrive.

I was put off by the "racism" charge in the first paragraph. The Chinese are as xenophobic and clannish as anyone else. Elitism is a human fault, not an American one.
This fool is a fool.

IOW, when Hell freezes over. The Chinese should get ready for a long wait.

Sounds like Global Alternatives to Capitalism 101.
Are you sure this isn't a college course?

Too late for the cadres, just like it's too late for jihad,
they couldn't wait until we were totally indoctrinated.
Now it will cost them.

Funny though, the Chinese have their own hegemonic plan
but their rigid belief structure won't be able to seal the
cracks that come with such expansion.

only when an outgoing emigration occurs in the United States, will the American hegemonic mentality be extinguished, will the age of multipolarity arrive.

The only way there could be an "outgoing emigration" from the United States, is if there were another multiethnic, economically free and dynamic, immigrant-welcoming nation somewhere on the face of the earth to take them. In other words, a virtual cultural and economic clone of the United States must be posited.

China is itself unlikely to ever evolve to become such a nation. So it appears that Chinese concern with the American "hegemon" might merely have to be shifted to a new and perhaps more vital hegemon in the future.

A truly multipolar world can only come about when nations are free and their people are relatively free to pursue their individual economic goals, and when peoples are truly able to direct their nations' policies through stable relatively democratic institutions.

Well its gonna be a LONG wait. The last power that tried to overtake us failed miserably.

Oh the socialists have been putting out this little meme for 10 years. This goes along with "people sleeping under bridges," and "slums in Harlem." They don't, and there aren't any.

I hear this all the time in the EU, even from people that have lived in the US and should know better.

What is particularly funny is the Harlem bit. Most Europeans could not even afford a small studio in Harlem right now, the reference to places like Bed-Sty or Harlem shows that they are coming right out of Communist agit-prop right out of the 1960's.

America is the least "racist" place on the planet. It is particularly funny to hear this one come out of the mouths of Europeans or Asians. I guarantee you that you will never see a black mayor of Beijing, Paris, Bonn or Tokyo.

As an aside, whenever I here this in my travel and the situation allows, I tel them "A free people are not equal and an equal people are not free." The reaction to that one is a joy to behold. They actually short circuit for about 20 seconds. The world in in a collect state of self delusion and rationalization.

Sometimes I think that we should actively counter all this spin with the fact, but as an old rhetoric teach once told me, it is pointless to throw a ball of there is no one there to catch it.

Best that we go about our business.

If the US can cast out the socialism of the last sixty years, restore our traditions and our liberties, I imagine that historians will look back at this time and say that, yet again, America had the leading vision. This may even apply to the reemergence of faith in the public square.

Ironically, Bush - and the Party and Nation he leads - may come out of this period of history with the best claim to forward looking, courageous and visionary leadership,

It may be that the Left is marked as the reactionary and crudely backward looking movement.

Thanks for posting! One of the fascinating aspects of this involve the idealogical blinders of the author. On the one hand he shows some signs of understanding the American individualistic ethos, while on the other he embraces the notion that mucking around with the American psyche could somehow advance the Chinese agenda. All in all a fascinating post.

About the only people I see ever use the word "hegemony" are the Red Chinese.

Here's the thing Mr. Wang -- your government is ripping you off. And they are ripping your mother off, your father off, your sister off and your brother off along with your aunts, uncles, neighbors and everything you hold dear.

Unless, of course, you happen to be tight with the in crowd, then you have it pretty good.

But you sure don't see a whole lot of us Americans wanting to emigrate to the PRC, do you? Think about it.
