I don't agree with that. Wayne was far more effective on screen than he would've been on the battlefield.I agree with you, Jonny. Surly the Vietnam experience has taught us how critical keeping up morale on the home front is to any war effort. In fact, that's why the Left is doing all it can to demoralize the American people now. I only wish we had a John Wayne around making films today.

And Wayne was one of the few stars to actually go to South Vietnam to see the troops. (I specify "South" because of course "North Vietnam" was reserved for Jane Fonda :)

Very true words Wolfstar, one of the saddest things IMHO in England was how many talented young men died in the first world war we had learned our lesson by the second so many of the artists and intellilectuals unless they insisted did not participate on the front line but their talents and skilled were used in other ways.
