A day (actually 2 yrs) in the life of President Bush (8/6/05): many photos

PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: With the President, First Lady and the dogs relaxing at the ranch this weekend, there are no new photos to post. So I've selected a theme -- GWB and our Armed Forces -- and found many photos to let us enjoy a walk down memory lane. The theme photos are all from early in his presidency. They show GWB's closeness with our military both before and after 9/11/01.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

Monday, the President travels to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He will be touring the Sandia Laboratory there, and then will be making remarks after signing the comprehensive energy legislation that passed recently.

Tuesday, the President is going to have his economic advisors to the ranch. He will participate in a briefing with them on the state of our economy. Afterwards, GWB will make some remarks and participate in a press availability.

Wednesday, President Bush will traveling to Aurora, Illinois, where he will sign the transportation legislation. Aurora is the largest town in the north-central Illinois congressional district of House Speaker Dennis Hastert.

Saturday, tentative, but the President usually participates in an RNC event in August at the ranch. As of yesterday, the President's schedule was not firmed up beyond Wednesday.

QUOTE OF THE DAY Excerpt from the presidential radio address, Saturday, August 6, 2005:

As families across the country enjoy the summer, Americans can be optimistic about our economic future. In the past four years, our economy has been through a lot: we faced a stock market decline, a recession, corporate scandals, an attack on our homeland, and the demands of an ongoing war on terror.

To grow the economy and help American families, we acted by passing the largest tax relief in a generation. And today, thanks to the tax relief and the efforts of America's workers and entrepreneurs, our economy is strong and growing stronger.

This past week, we learned that America added over 200,000 new jobs in July. Since May of 2003, we've added nearly 4 million new jobs. The unemployment rate is down to 5 percent, below the average of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. And more Americans are working today than ever before in our nation's history.

We need to make the tax relief permanent, end the death tax forever, and make our tax code simpler, fairer and more pro-growth.

DONE! And I added John Gibson as well.

Deb, would you consider posting a separate thread with this contact info, so that it can get to a wider FR audience??

Dr. Deb - I knew about Cindy's previous, more positive interview she gave after meeting with the president, but did not know she belonged to those Marxist organizations you linked. Thank you for your hard work on this and I've sent e-mails to the usual gang.

I just e-mailed the following rant to various reporters/producers at FoxNews! Now I'm off to e-mail the Sheehan information.

DISAPPOINTED. That’s all I can say after listening to the Fox All Stars discuss the recent AP/Ipsos Reid poll on Friday evening (8/5/05).

WHY?

Rather than discuss the poll’s validity, the ‘All Stars’ simply regurgitated the cherry-picked polling results/headlines published by various AP reporters.

Had the ‘All Stars’ taken even two minutes to review this poll’s top line results, they would have learned the following:

1.) Per usual for AP/Ipsos Reid (and virtually all of the other pollsters, including Gallup), this poll GROSSLY over samples Democrats – 49% Democrat vs 39% Republican (+10 points for Democrats).

This fact alone invalidates ALL of the ‘results’ generated by this poll!

[I included a chart that illustrates AP's consistent over sampling of Democrats!]

2.) Per usual for AP, the ‘headline’ from this poll is statistically invalid.

According to the ‘headline’, the President’s job approval rating for Iraq hit an all-time low this month. In reality, the President’s Iraq rating is statistically unchanged (i.e., within the MOE of +/- 3.1/3.4) from the last AP poll.

IRAQ rating:
Aug 05 38% approve 59% disapprove
July 05 40% approve 59% disapprove

3.) Per usual for AP (and the rest of the media), reporters missed the real ‘headline’ from this poll:

“Despite relentless personal and political attacks from Democrats and their media enablers, a new AP poll has confirmed that two-thirds of Americans LIKE their president and believe he is a STRONG LEADER!!”
http://www.ipsos-na.com/news/client/act_dsp_pdf.cfm?name=mr050805-1topline.pdf&id=2747

BOTTOMLINE: Rather than simply regurgitate poll results, I challenge you to start ANALYZING the polling samples/techniques used to generate these results.

YOUR VIEWERS HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY AND
YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO REPORT IT!!

A faithful FoxNews viewer,

Deb . . . . . , PhD
Cincinnati, Ohio

PS As guilty of ‘sample’ tampering as AP/IpsosReid, Gallup recently changed its weighting policies and procedures.

During all of 2004 and the first half of 2005, Gallup evenly divided its party identification averages between Republicans and Democrats (34% Republican and 34% Democrat).
http://gallup.com/poll/content/?ci=17584

For some reason (I think we can all guess why) Gallup recently ended this policy, preferring instead to OVER SAMPLE Democrats and independents:

July 25-28 [Bush job approval: 44% approve]
33% Democrat (+5)
28% Republican
37% Independent (+9)

July 22-24 [Bush job approval: 49% approve]
36% Democrat (+4)
32% Republican
31% Independent (+1)

July 7-10 [Bush job approval: 49% approve]
35% Democrat (+5)
30% Republican
33% Independent (+3)

To push the President’s job approval rating BELOW 50%, Gallup simply dispensed with their “even” sampling procedure and started surveying a higher percentage of BOTH Democrats and Independents (or they re-weighted their sample to achieve the same end).

To push the President’s job approval rating BELOW 45%, Gallup both decreased the percentage of Republicans in its polling sample (to a point BELOW 30%) and increased the percentage of Independents (by 4-6 points)!

SHAME ON YOU FOR ALLOWING THIS POLLING FRAUD TO CONTINUE UNQUESTIONED!
