The Future Looks Ominous for Immigrants
NCM ^

Posted on 08/04/2005 9:59:07 PM PDT by Happy2BMe

Republican Congressman John Culberson of Texas and 47 co-sponsors recently introduced House Bill 3622 to establish a “Border Protection Corps.”

This is undoubtedly a response to the fear that exists in the U.S., a country prepared to create a system resembling the Gestapo in Germany, or the KGB in the Soviet Union, in the name of national security.

If this law were approved, we would be living in a nation that promotes and justifies mutual distrust – something that would be contrary and unimaginable to the American forefathers who declared a Bill of Rights composed of one people and one united community that would not discriminate against someone because of their racial profile or nationality.

This law would encourage volunteer militant-vigilante-policemen in cities throughout the U.S. with the objective of reporting undocumented immigrants to collaborate with federal, state and local authorities. These watchful, nationalistic citizens who love their country would include police officers, professionals, teachers and citizens of all kinds. All of whom are prepared to offer time out of their lives in the name of strengthening and securing the peace of the nation.

It’s time for our undocumented brothers to understand that they need to start their residency proceedings immediately, and that they should not jeopardize their immigration status by waiting for a national legalization program or for an extension of Section 245i.

If they have 6.8 billion bucks that is not being used by homeland security why not simply fund the border patrol, hire the patrolman we need, build tent cities(with proper wire around them) to house the illegal aliens while we process them and ship them back where they came from. This includes aliens already here.

With the added border patrol and cessation of the catch and release program we might start to make some real gains on the problem.

I think this bill is ok but I do not think we need any new laws to handle the problem, just enforcement of the ones we have.

It should really pi** people off that this much money is lying about and they haven't used it yet to do anything about the NORTH and SOUTH borders. We need to control both if we are to stop terrorists or at least slow them down.

They also want social security. Welfare is not enough. I don't understand why we don't just take over Mexico break it up into at least 5 new states and make them all Americans. If they want all of our money and "perks", they can pay our taxes learn our language be subject to our laws, ect........

I think it would be a win win for everyone. They would get everything they want, accept being Mexican, we would get more land, natural resources, the unions would be able to have more work. I don't see a down side.

If Mexicans could speak for themselves instead of their corrupt government, I bet they would gladly give the U.S. their country. Face it, everyone in the world wants to come to United States. Only the power hungry keep the rest of the world from emulating our us.

Will the volunteers get issued brown shirts?

Maybe they'll get issued green shirts, or blue shirts, or yellow shirts with purple polka dots.

This law has to be one of the dumbest ideas I've seen in a long time.

This law would encourage volunteer militant-vigilante-policemen in cities throughout the U.S. with the objective of reporting undocumented immigrants to collaborate with federal, state and local authorities.

You can bet your @ss that the INS will routinely ignore about 99.999% of the "reports" they get from law-abiding citizens about illegal aliens in this country, and until that attitude changes it is absolutely pointless to pass stupid laws like this.

I've got a far more effective way to make a tiny start in dealing with the problem of illegal immigration, and it wouldn't require anything more than a simple change in our civil and criminal laws. The law I've proposed is three-fold:

1. Any illegal alien charged with a crime must also be charged with entering this country illegally. Regardless of how the original charges are addressed, he/she must serve a MANDATORY five-year sentence in prison before being deported to his/her country of origin.

2. An illegal alien who faces a murder charge will be treated as a prisoner of war and have his/her case prosecuted through a U.S. military court. A person who enters this country illegally and kills someone is not a criminal -- he's an invader.

3. An illegal alien has no standing in civil court as a plaintiff, and if sued in civil court will automatically have a default judgement rendered against him in which any assets he possesses will be turned over to the plaintiff.

Every concept in this article is completely laughable. This one particularly draws attention, for it shows that the author has less than no knowledge on the founding of this country, everything the author thinks he/she knows is propaganda produced during and immediately after the Revolution and the specific point made is in the 14th amendment, generations after the revolution.

Wholy more than one third of the free peoples in the 13 colonies were Tories, who specifically wanted their continued BRITISH nationality, and those who wanted to keep it LEFT the 13 colonies. We call some Canadians now.

When wholy one third of Mexicans want to simultaneously keep their Mexican citizenship, culture, and society intact, but are trying to invade a neighboring country to the North and replace the established culture, they are the Tories in any US Revolutionary analogy.

This author might fall into the "so ignorant you can't reason with'em" category of useful idiots.

I disagree in one area, the area that really is the crux of Washington's ONE AMERICA attitude, and the basis for pandering to Mexico along with open border policy -- and that is the concept of "cheap" labor -- there really is no such thing first off, because who pays the overhead on illegals?? Yes, we, the taxpayer do. Who then benefits?? Yes, the big coporations that pour lots of campaign bucks into political parties....getting the picture now??

The real effective measure will be to heavily penalize companies that hire illegals. But now, do you think that is ever going to happen...given why all this is happening???

We all need to be aware that congress will attempt to pass legislation that sounds good, but will have no impact on illegal immigration.
We currently have plenty of laws on the books that are not being enforced and need to be budgeted to staff and do the job. Arrest, incarcerate, identify, deport and keep them out.

I agree. As it is, Congress doesn't give the Border Patrol the funding it needs. I think this would be another feel good/do nothing piece of BS.

Where do we start?

Well I haven't recovered from Bush ramming CAFTA through yet - almost had a stroke. Next I learn he and Congress are in cahoots with giving illegals Social Security - that's his plan for saving it.

I honestly don't think the illegals have anything to worry about. Bush is not going to let any of his pretties be deported until he can give them amnesty. That should come right before the election in 08.

Now the conservatives, on the other hand, better worry. He has plans for us that would make your hair stand up and run away.

"discriminate against someone because of their racial profile or nationality."

What we do discriminate against, as we all should, are criminals that cross our borders illegally and then are hired by US criminals to do jobs the border crossers should do in their own countries. Question for libs: What if a significant percentage of the illegals are terrorists? Would you want them stopped at the borders or not?

We can't put up a border fence, because that would be like a wall,

Of course, they leave out that minor difference between such walls - one is meant to keep people in, and the other to keep people out. One is a sign of a totalitarian state, and the other is a sign of a free state protecting its borders from invasion.

Anyone who crosses the border illegaly is a criminal but I know what you mean. The libs of course would have us believe that any type of discrimination is wrong. Of course to the libs, to stop a terrorist at the border would just be another way the U.S. supresses their basic human rights thus encouraging them to lash out at us.
