Fake Pro Gun group rears its ugly head.
SASS Wire. ^

Posted on 08/04/2005 4:35:29 AM PDT by Vaquero

There is a new national organization calling itself the American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA). According to this new group, extremists groups who defend the second amendment as it was written are threatening the future of gun ownership and hunting. (Meaning the NRA, GOA, JPFO, SAS and others.)

The following is a quote from their website: "Moreover, an overwhelming majority of hunters support proposals like background checks to purchase guns, keeping military style assault weapons off our streets and the elimination of cop killer bullets." "In recent years, extreme political positions purporting to support gun rights have jeopardized our sport and have hurt the image of responsible gun owners. Unless the sporting community can become unified behind an organization that fights for safe and responsible hunting and shooting practices and sensible gun ownership, future generations may be unable to participate in and enjoy the shooting sports."

As we looked further into this obvious ruse, we found that the President of the AHSA Foundation was none other than John Rosenthal, Cofounder of Stop Handgun Violence (SHV). If you read his biography on the AHSA website, it fails to mention his association with SHV. It also fails to mention that SHV has supported every anti-second amendment rights bill since the organizations creation.

Stop Handgun Violence was a major supporter of Chapter 180 of the Acts of 1998. As our members are aware, that legislation has been responsible for taking the rights away from nearly 1,000,000 lawful gun owners. The result of which has been a near 50% increase in violent related gun crimes and a 300% increase in fatal accidents. SHV was also a major supporter of the Massachusetts Attorney Generals fraudulent regulations on handguns.

The facts are obvious, the anti-civil rights radical agenda and the failed social experiment of crime control through the persecution of lawful citizens has forced such groups to hide their true agenda. These groups are losing public support and are desperate to regain a political foothold. The AHSA is apparently trying to copy a ploy from John Kerry's failed Presidential bid and camouflage who they really are.

Please let all of your fellow gun owners and sportsmen know about this fraudulent organization.

I am not sure how this organization would represent me. I am a gun owner and I do not hunt, nor do I target shoot other than for practice. I guess I am one of those extremist who thinks that a gun can be used for protection, as well as hunting and target shooting.

I am not sure how this organization would represent me.

The MSM would use it to present the "pro"-gun side after an incident, and the spokesman would present a deliberately weak argument

Sneaky, lying, duplicitious Democrats? I can't believe it!

They just don't give up on "gun control" do they.

They're afraid of free citizens that are armed.

Thanks for posting this.>br>I own zero guns, but the issue is very important to me.

I recommend repetition. How many people who are truly interested are reading this this time?
I am also going to casually mention this to other people at every opportunity.

It's like the ACLU and islam: they sound like useful and noble groups until you examine the results of what they do!

I wonder how it would work to join this bogus organization and then start writing letters truly pro-gun to each and everyone congressman, senator, letters to to editor, etc. identifing yourself as representing the organization.
Could be fun!

A Yahoo Search on Stop Handgun Violence Soros, shows as suspected that the evil George $oreA$$, aka, Soros, has funded this organization around the world. I think that his funding of this organization led to the disarming of UK citizens.

Maybe Joe and ping his Bang list about the connection.
