BROOK PARK, Ohio -- A military spokesman said that 14 Marines wh owere killed in Iraq Wednesday were members of the same Ohio-based battalion that lost six members on Monday.
Gunnery Sgt. Brad Lauer said the Marines were members of the Third Battalion, 25th Marines based in the Cleveland suburb of Brook Park.
The military said the Marines were traveling in an amphibious assault vehicle that was hit by a roadside bomb near Haditha, 140 miles northwest of Baghdad. An Iraqi translator also was killed and another Marine was wounded.
Lauer said the victims names' have not been released. It's unclear how many of them are from Ohio. The battalion has units in Brook Park; Columbus; Akron; Moundsville, West Virginia and Buffalo, N.Y.
That is beautiful.
Amen.
I agree completely. We must continue the good fight against these monsters who blow up women and children, willingly, to reach they sickening ends. They won't win. We won't let them.
(sigh)....damn. RIP
No, I have been hearing on the radio today that supposedly the terrorists claim that they have captured a Marine in the last few days, and will be posting his picture on the internet soon....
Add this to other great mysteries:
Why can't they fix loose shuttle foam?
Why can't they stop illegal immigration through Mexico by simply building a wall and guarding it?
Why are Palestinian terrorists exempt from the War on Terror?
Brookpark is Kucinich's district I think. I just can't wait for him to try to make political fodder out of this...
I just saw a blurb on the ticker at the bottom of Fox News, that said that the Pentagon is saying that they do not have notification of any Marines that are missing.....
Supposedly, the Marine was captured in a firefight in Western Iraq the other day.
So, I guess it is still sort of up in the air...
I'm sure there is something on FR, but I found this on a Google search:
Pentagon denies U.S. Marine captured in Iraq

We were heartbroken with this morning's news.
The fact that this happened proves to me that the Marines are getting sloppy . They need to improve their force protection techniques. These level of casualty hurts President Bush, who of course, the Marines have sworn to serve unconditionally
The fact that this happened and that six other's were killed yesterday proves to me that newsweek, other's in the msn and some of our senators, durbin for one, are (in my mind) responsible for the upswing in attacks and therefore responsible for these deaths.
My prayers are with the families.
I think that maybe we ought to consider the fact that we didn't have enough troops in Iraq after the war. Perhaps Shinseki was right after all. Now we have a tiger by the tail and can't let go.
If this doesn't get better before long it will very likely affect both the 2006 and 2008 elections if history is any guide. Bring back the draft and watch things really get nasty. I don't see any way around it. Am I wrong?
There are 39,000 police officers in New York City and something like 150,000 coalition troops in Iraq, which is roughly the same size as California.
You do the math.
When I heard about the 6 snipers, yesterday, and that the theory is that they were ambushed by what they thought were Iraqi soldiers, tells me that, like I have heard many times...it is really, really hard to tell the good guys from the bad....
I THINK, I am not sure though, that I heard that some terrorists were seen wearing Marine uniforms? I'm gonna check...
These last two incidents 6 yesterday, 12 today, happened in the same area....why haven't a couple of bombs been dropped to wipe out that whole area?
Sloppy? YOU try spotting buried explosives from inside a moving armored vehicle!
These level of casualty hurts President Bush
Gee, the poor guy. Did it ever occur to you that "these level of casulty" also hurt the Marines involved?

Just d@#n. A bad day for the good guys.
