Since there are about 5,000 members of the murderous Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang in the Washington area, it's hard to get too excited about the apprehension of 11 in the past few weeks.

How difficult would it be to check out folks hanging around the 7/11's and the ethnic bars and trace through them the whole gang bunch? It's not like they aren't locatable; it's more like the powers that be don't want to look.

Staging a press conference on this sums up the real commitment the government has on tackling this problem. Anyone with any street smarts can walk through an urban area in New Jersey and round up over 1000 gang members in the matter of an hour. In a 12 block radius.
Until these '1000 arrested today' news conferences are '10000 arrested today' news conferences, more gang members are entering the US than the US LE Agencies at all levels are taking off the streets daily.
The feds are bailing the Titanic with a teaspoon, and bragging about it.
Meanwhile, the bottom of the ship is flooding a million gallons a minute.
And the 1000 will be deported, to spend a month on vacation, before walking back across the border.
The problem with these guys is that they're so hardcore soullessly evil that they scare most of our professional law enforcement. Consider them irredeemable insurgents at war with our way of life while having no respect for anything except the power of coercion.
While the law dictates such creatures deserve a fair trial I sincerely believe well placed Hydrashocks are the best overall solution. A few weeks of one cop's trauma versus a scumbag running rampant spreading misery over years. Kick me off jury selection now (heh heh).
I'm with you. I also think this whole thing, while it has been positive, is being used as a smoke screen to avoid the issue of the millions of other illegal "heroes" (you know, the honorable illegal who is a good Christian just trying to put food on his table) that are being ignored.
13 of them were just grabbed up here in Providence, RI.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they come to the suburbs.

What we need is the one thing the feds won't do, because it would work, and in truth, they don't want to stop the cheap labor immivasion.
Until they build a modern, effective border fence system, it's all just a joke.

With the launch of this second phase, ICE’s Operation Community Shield aims to ensure that gang members have no safe haven in our nation’s communities.

I have learned from LEO's that MS-13 leaders are moving into small towns for their residences because the local police force is not very large or sophisticated. No crimes are being committed there, just using the towns for the same reason we like them, the peace and quiet.
This is a prelude to the US version of Balkans/Kosovo or more bluntly Civil War II
