WASHINGTON - Former President Bill Clinton has hired a new spokesman, a veteran of the Howard Dean 2004 presidential campaign and New York City's 2012 Olympics bid.
Jay Carson was also a former press secretary for Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., and has worked for the Democratic National Committee. Clinton's office announced Carson's hiring Tuesday.
Carson replaces Jim Kennedy, who announced he is leaving to become a spokesman for Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Kennedy has worked since 2002 as the chief spokesman for the former president. He also worked in the Clinton White House from 1998 to early 2001.
Why would Clinton need a new spokesman?
So, Clinton has hired a proven winner! (smirk, smirk)

New York City is a Democratic town, even when the Republican National Convention is held there. Democrats are staging a rapid response team similar to the Republican effort in Boston last month.
What is different is the scope of the team: Democrats have named theirs the America Can Do Better Rapid Response Campaign (as an extension of the America Can Do Better bus tour through swing states last week), and have named New York political operatives Melvin Norris, Jay Carson, and Kevin P. Wardally to direct it.
