In the area where I live there is a junkyard dog attorney many of the women use in a divorce. The smart men run and put her on a retainer whenever they suspect trouble brewing at home.

Yes, 9 attorneys for Joran. Beth was told this by the prosecutor.

Any of your guesses are possible. It would be interesting to know who is paying them and why. I don't understand how a man recently out of a job could afford 9 attorneys for his son.

This thing seems to be much bigger than just Joran and the Kalpoe brothers.

"...much bigger than just Joran and the Kalpoe brothers."

Deeper and deeper we go. The Twitty and Holloways just may be up against a whole justice system and not just the three young liars. Frightening, considering the ilk of their "experts".

If Aruban authorities REALLY wanted to solve this mystery, IMO they'd accept help, no hands barred, from the U.S., Natalee's home. I say this because they have to know they have done a miserable job of investigation from the gitgo.

How dare they force the family whose child disappeared on THEIR island to accept their sloppy handling of the case.

In addition to the landfill, something else doesn't smell right.

Beth said tonight that she had written to 8 different government officials around the middle of July and has never heard back from any of them.

Lots of political campaigning going on in Aruba right now, but no time to respond to Beth.

TES is required to get a permit to search the landfill.
The permit is issued by a government official.
This leads me to believe, as I've heard, the landfill is government owned. I heard a TES searcher (Huston, maybe) say there is equipment belonging to the landfill that has never been offered to help in the search. Yet, Trappenberg claims the government does not own any such machinery.
Trappenberg is either ignorant or lying, IMO.

Sure seems like there are many players working to keep the truth hidden.

Miss you too.. have been in DC for the past week working... it is SO quiet in August... great time to do business with the "little" people...

Have spent hours reading all of the Natalee notes... I feel so discouraged without any hope for Natalee... now I just pray for some type of ending for her parents... I simply cannot understand how the young men and their families continue to profess their innocence while doing everything in their power to diffuse the investigation...and.. why in the world so many attorneys??.. if that is accurate..

Hope you are OK TexKat.. warm regards to all...

You know, the U.S. gov't messes up plenty, all three branches in my opinion. Ideally it should never happen here in the greatest country on earth.

Yet the powers-that-be in this tiny Aruban island portray, to me at least, a puffed-up arrogance which defies anyone to question them. Aruba, with Holland's backing, holds all the aces. This is the same little speck in the sea which would dry up economically if U.S. tourists blackballed their "paradise".

They obviously don't think that will happen and maybe they're right. If Americans declare right now that Aruba is no longer a choice for an island get-away, that news just might hit them right between the eyes---a real wake-up call.

For the parents of NH, I wish the crusade would begin.

This was a club he belonged to? Some club, that was a disgusting pix. He is one guy I wouldn't want my kids any where near.

Not so much belonged to as frequented. Somewhere up thread I posted pictures of the night club where the kids would drink and dance (and apparently humiliate themselves).

No offense taken. It's hard to tell lately, with all the bickering the past few days, I'm just waiting for the daily "Bickerfest"!. Just glad it hasn't happened ...yet.

I understand. I try to stay away from the arguments.

As a mom of an 18 y/o, I've been stuck on this thread for days now and feel helpless. I guess my utter frustration just kinda oozes out from time to time. LOL!

That's completely understandable too. This one hits a nerve because it all goes to the protection of our kids and the balance of how much freedom to give them. People want to prepare their children to avoid predators and make them wise as snakes, but also (somehow) keep them innocent as lambs—with the idealism and optimism of youth. It's such a difficult balance.

And helpless is exactly the word to describe it. It is like the homicide bombers. If someone is intent on trading his life to kill others, there's pretty much no stopping him. So it is with most predators. And here is the dilemma: Go out into public and risk getting blown up? Or hide in a closet, which is not living at all? Most neither choose to live in Gaza, nor under their bed as a hermit. They live somewhere in between—where there is some danger, but also life . . .

Predators like them should be hunted down. Bounties should be offered and regular laws should not apply to them.

These guys will meet their demise some way . . . either by Aruban laws or natural ones . . .

Natalee's mother said today: I'm now home in Alabama, in the good old USA. I glad to be away from that stinking, corrupted desert island where most of the population is gainful employed in providing drugs and alcohol to visitors and the remainder assist the South American drug trafficking industry. The arrogance of the Arabians is a heritage of the Dutch who are famous only for their condescension and chocolate.

Please, honor the memory of my daughter, Natalee, by never going yourself or letting your children go to that wretched place. Let it become Natalee's grave, undisturbed by visitors.

Aruban govt. or one of their departments surely owns a few bulldozers and dump trucks. They've done nothing but impede and hinder the investigation unbelievably. Does anyone think if a Van der Sloot daughter had disappeared in like circumstances, and if someone without influence were guilty, that things would be different?

That aside, an attorney or ex-cop on Fox or MSNBC the other night said that this case will be like Martha Moxley, only we won't have to wait twenty years for Joran and the Kalpoe's to get what's coming to them. They'll be released unless NH is found, and even if she is, the Aruban LE will decide she died of natural causes or was eaten by a shark and since Joran left her on the beach, it's her own fault she's dead....but Joran likes to drink and he's reckless. Getting away with murder will make him more reckless. He'll think he's invincible, so when he gets back to his usual behavior and drinks and uses drugs, at some point he'll boast about what he did and where the body is. Someone will decide to cash in on the reward and turn him in. In fact, they might record him. The Kalpoes are no different. They'll get drunk and talk, even back on Senegal, and someone will remember the reward and talk to the cops. Beth Twitty will find her daughter and NH will get justice.

Also, last night J. Masur's son was on Fox and he said his sources say Joran has started talking, so he must have gotten tired of holding his hands over his ears. Plus, he's now 18 and there will be no more daily visits from Papa. He's an adult and different rules apply.

Is it just we in States that sees this? It is bigger than JVDS & the Kalpoes! Seems that the whole island is turning their heads on this poor girl. BTW was the landfill witness able to ID PVDS as the person watching and asking questions???

Is Beth back in the States or was this said earlier in the week? If this woman & her family continue to get the runaround from the Aruban Govt., I think Beth's gonna "explode"!! She knows more than she's saying and she will eventually say it!
