Thanks for a good laugh! What a bunch of kooks!

The spin is already starting over there. It's really a win for Hackett, you know.

(BTW, no mention of Hackett's ads apparently linking him to W. Interesting...)

saw Dukakis speak in public recently. It was not pretty. He reminded me of carter with his words.

But first we have to see if Allen can hold on to his Senate seat when Warner decides to jump in and steal it from him. Behind in the polls in VA, last I heard.

Chris, you disappoint me. [shaking head]

But he didn't become a senator, which was the original question.

Save your complaint. I staked my vote on whether they could confirm Bolton, but now that's a moot issue until after the elections, a fair test would be whether they get Roberts in. I get sick of the Democrats having us by the balls with only 44 seats.

He didn't talk about time limits . . . he just asked to name a candidate . . .

Is there anything permanent tha thas changed that would keep the GOP from ever winning MI again?

I am from IL originally (voted for Ford in 76). What has happend there is Chicago use to be 65/35 DEM, now it is 85/15 DEM. Suburbs use to be 60-40 GOP, now 55-45 GOP..no GOP candidate can win IL's 21 EV's ever again I am afraid.

In CA, immigration and conservative moving out to AZ, CO, NV etc make CA nearly impossible for the GOP to win ever again...does the same hold true in MI?

This is ridiculous. These precincts need to come in. Are they using crayons in these precincts?

How did Hackett come so close? I was thinking during the day, when Limbaugh played his (Hackett's) ad, where he doesn't mention he is a Democrat, just that he is a Marine major. I was thinking that many people would assume that he was the Republican and vote for him. Do you think that happened?

You mean Hackett didn't run a commercial that went like this:

Howdy, my names Hacket and I'm a liberal democrat who supports higher taxes, homosexual marriage, killing babies on the way out and I personally think that President Bush is a son of a bitch who is more a danger to this country than Osama bin Laden!

I'm shocked that this is so close. Utterly shocked.

You are probably right. Special elections are message sending elections. And if she keeps her teeth clean, incumbancy is always a big plus. And more folks will vote. I suspect the GOP turnout, really, really sucked (the GOP took this race for granted, which was certainly reasonable per the numbers). That won't happen as much in a regular election.

Dan, I am a Southerner these days, but I was born in Michigan, I would like to see it turn red, as it should be. But I gather it was mostly Republicans that made up those four Congressional districts that moved to the Sun Belt (like me).

What is Ted Nugent up to these days? I remember him saying he wanted to run against Granholm. Boy, I hope we can make her mount her broom and fly back to Canada. And if we could pick off Stabinow as well, that would be as sweet an election as '02 and '04.

actually, given how bad a candidate Kerry was - a hardcore unappealing northeast liberal with a kook for a wife, and given how prominent the national security issue was, Bush should have gotten 55% of the vote in 2004.

it was close because the white house has a poor communications apparatus. and it continues to this day, let's hope Roberts can make it through.

Yeah 1986 was just great for the GOP

That's it? One snide little example, which shows nothing, and you completely "forgot" to address all my other points. Shocking!

Sorry Coop, but thems the numbers. Me's been hearing that Warner's been looking at Allen's seat. Test polls show Warner ahead of Allen.

Chris

Excellent point, I was thinking the same thing earlier when I saw the ad.
