North Carolina leads nation with foreign gang arrests Authorities said 34 men with suspected affiliations to Hispanic street gangs were picked up in the Triangle area, 25 were detained in the Triad and 18 in the Charlotte area. The North Carolina total led the nation in a roundup that resulted in arrests of 582 across the country, officials said Monday. Arrests in Raleigh were higher than the number in much larger cities - 23 in Los Angeles and 19 in New York. Local police worked with federal agents in the operation.
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Federal immigration agents in three regions of North Carolina have arrested 77 people in recent weeks who were suspected of being gang members living illegally in the United States.
The sweep followed a roundup that began in the spring, targeting members of Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, a violent street gang born in Los Angeles neighborhoods with a strong presence in North and Central America.
"We are working to convey that this is a community that will be intolerant of violent, illegal, street gang activity," said Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue.

Is this a bad sign for NC or a worse sign for LA and NY?
Or are the laws of the whole country a joke?

Ask a game warden what an ICE agent will do if he hands over a group of illegal aliens for poaching and get back with me.
Woo-hoo! Saw 'em carting off my neighbors!
Just kidding. Kind of.
Disappointed we're #3 to the Triad and Triangle. What's that all about?!?
Thats kind of a misleading headline....1/3 of California's prison population belongs somewhere south of the border!
MS-13 is a real threat, one the feds are apparantly just now are catching up with. They are trying hard to be nastier than the Columbians in the drug trade and that is saying a lot. Worse than the Brighton Beach Russians on a bad hair day.
Personal note: my handle is for real, '79 and '80, I was popping tops for Jim Sughrue at Players Retreat bar in Raleigh. He was the evening news guy for a local TV station then. Good man, nice to hear he has a steady day job. (just kidding Jim.)
check it out, looks like NC is out.

sureno" or "sur 13," which is a gang originating from California.
A Wake County town trying to crack down on teen violence receives some criticism.
The American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina is hosting a community forum to talk about the Knightdale curfew Thursday.
The curfew in Knightdale applies to teens 18 years and younger, seven days a week. It's been in place since the end of May.
But the ACLU of North Carolina said it violates the constitution
Knightdale town leaders approved the curfew in an effort to fight gang activity. They say they've seen a lot of graffiti and other signs of gangs in neighborhoods. The curfew starts at 9 p.m. and it doesn't end until 6 a.m. Also under the rules, teens can't gather in groups of more than four people in public places. Parents must pay a $100 fine after the first warning. Repeat violators could pay as much as $400. The ACLU said curfews are not effective law enforcement tools. "Im sure Knightdale doesn't think that they can override the constitution but if kids want to get together to worship, if they want to get together to protest, all kinds of activity that are protected by the first amendment, should be cut out of this curfew, so it's pretty badly written to be honest with you," Jennifer Rudinger of the ACLU explained.
The community forum starts at 7 p.m. Thursday night at the East Regional Library. http://rdu.news14.com/content/your_news/raleigh/default.asp?ArID=72688
This is like trying to keep a ship with a huge hole in the bottom from sinking, by bailing the water out with a spoon.
You know, if NC really is the go-to place for Mara Salvatrucha and their ilk, I woulda kept the Feeb police actions pretty quiet. Don't broadcast it all over the nooz, that will just warn the gangs to pick another mecca. Let the gangs continue to come there, and let them continue to be scooped up there.
And I thought Boston was leading the league with 61.
But I see "illegal immigrancy" as akin to theft. It's certainly dishonest.
I remember a time in CA in early 90s, when there was scrimmage via words being circled in the Dem-Net via MSM about making "homeowners" have to rent empty rooms out to those who had no home. NoooO. I'm not kidding. Sure it was just "babble"; but with them, their babble has a tendency to become "law".
Further, getting ripped off. Anyone who has ever been ripped off, dislikes it. Feels violated. The left tries to make those ripped off feel guilty -- for having things -- that others do not.
So, no. I don't feel "guilty" over those illegals being deported.
I hate being ripped off, and violated by lawbreakers -- and by the -- Secular Church of the Democratic/Socialist Party.
I have a stepbrother in NC and he has told me about the gangs in that state, particularly Charlotte. He now carries a gun in his car.
Then some liberal swine Judge in NC will dismiss all the charges due to racial reasons, and they will be back on the streets in five minutes.
