ROME, JULY 29, 2005 (Zenit.org).- China might soon become the most populous country of bachelors, reported a missionary of the Pontifical Institute of Foreign Missions.
Father Giancarlo Politi, speaking on Vatican Radio, said that the one-child policy, instituted to "maintain control over the population, so that it wouldn't grow enormously," favors the birth of boys among Chinese families.
"There is still a need to seek by all means to have at least a male child," said the priest.
As a result of the policy, instituted in 1979, an estimated 25 million young men in China might remain single for life.
"The family without heirs leaves the couple in a relationship of virtual sterility, also from the human and not just the procreative point of view," he said.
This policy is "truly inhuman," stated the missionary, in that it stipulates "compulsory abortion for those without permission to have a second child," said Father Politi.
Off the books
The policy has also "given origin to a practice of having children outside the law."
Many children are not registered in China. "It will not be possible to indicate the number because it will be speculation," said the priest.
Although families with money might be able to obtain the registration, "it is true that all those born without permission do not exist" legally, and are the target of blackmail "at many levels," he said.
He said the law was instituted to redress the effects of an earlier policy based on the motto: "'The more we are the better,' as this way we can face the enemy and win."
They will be motivated to invade and kill off the competition...
Ping!
LOL!
Maybe that's why their government is so eager to go to war with somebody.
"They will be motivated to invade and kill off the competition..."
But will they be hungry an hour later?
Regardless of the friend or foe status between Bejing and Washington, all it would take is for one renegade General to promise 25-30 Million Virgin Chinese Army Regulars that if they follow him, they'll "get some".
Command and Control would pretty much go out the window...
One hell of a big testosterone bomb! I don't expect that reading the "Chairmans" little red book, will ever defuse this one.
You don't know how close you are. Don't forget how many of the unwanted girls have been adopted in the US and Europe. Hopefully they won't invade to get them back!
Your tag line is familiar. Who are you quoting?
The government may have to order 25 million new rainbow flags.
25 million men to spend in a war. With no reason except they are extra to society.
No offense intended, Boston ppl.
:7)
My last post should have been to you, I always prefer to post to Experts.
Sorry

Actually I was thinking of all of those un-wed Japanese Androids...
Throughout human history a surfeit of restless, discontented bachelors has always been a recipe for Big Trouble.
Well, in the eyes of Marxism-Leninism and Maoism, all are just tools for the state to use for its glory (in the name of "The People" of course). That is the brutal fact of the system.
No they won't. China has been rapidly REDUCING the troop strength of their armed forces in recent years.
I guess that means that we should not send over copies of the Victoria's Secret catalogue or the SI Swimsuit Issue.
I think the problem is overstated. 25 million surplus men in a nation of 1 billion+++ isn't a huge amount. It's like having 5 million surplus guys in the USA. Think about it, if 5 million guys came to the USA there would be more competition for girls for sure but it's not like single girls would disappear. You'd just need a bit more game to get a girl.
Also a 25 million surplus implies that 25 million people will be without girlfriends at any given time, not that 25 million would be without girls for life.
