Today President Bush signed the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005 at a signing ceremony at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C. Among those at the signing ceremony was Senator Bill Frist, who reversed his pro-life position in favor of government funding of embryonic stem cell research. President Bush also issued a statement applauding the Congress for their passage of a long awaited energy bill which he has been encouraging them to do for four years.

First Lady Laura Bush today spoke at the National Youth Summit in Washington D.C. and met with Iraqi officials in attendance there. .

Quote of the Day: I applaud the Congress for today's passage of an energy bill that will help secure our energy future and reduce our dependence on foreign sources of energy. The energy bill will increase conservation and efficiency, diversify our energy supply with alternative and renewable sources, expand domestic energy production in environmentally sensitive ways, and modernize our electricity infrastructure. Four years ago, I called for a national energy plan to address our Nation's energy needs for the 21st Century. The bipartisan energy bill passed today will give America a comprehensive national energy strategy for the first time in more than a decade and is critically important to our long-term national and economic security. I look forward to signing it into law.

It looks like Frist just took himself out of the
2008 Prez election.
Better choice next time Bill.

Good evening! The President looks directly at Frist in that shot. Frist appears to be avoiding eye contact.

Good evening, Ohio. Thank you for the pictures. The other day I was listening to Laura Ingraham's radio show, and she was joking about seeing a picture of the President watching the shuttle launch on a little bitty TV screen.

My thought: I bet she saw it on the dose! (as did I)

I don't know if Frist had much of a chance of winning the nomination in '08, but whatever chance he did have may just have gone out the window. In the immediate post-9/11 period, and especially during the anthrax attacks, I came to admire Frist. Now, after seeing his really weak performance as Senate Majority Leader, I would never vote for him for president.

Today one our faithful lurkers on the dose ShayTex emailed me the following photo which was taken at the recent G8 summit in Scotland which she scanned from a news magazine which she asked me to re-size and post on the dose tonight. Here is the photo which shows GWB in a defiant and determined mood. I wonder if this was taken after the tragic 7th July 2005 terrorist attack in London.
