Stabenow and Levin have to go.

Can Feinstein and Boxer go with them?

The libs did get trigger locks on pistols, don't they already do that?

Why do you think the uber-libs voted against increased penalties for using armor piercing ammo?(87-11)

I guess now it'll be a felony to sell a gun to a friend without a trigger lock?

That kinda sucks.

Yes, they do! Thanks for posting this. I was watching it today and listening to Lautenberg and Kennedy and laughing at them. Do they actually listen to the words that come out of their mouth? A BIG win for the good guys!

Stabenow and Levin have to go.

All the Rat loons have to go, obviously.

DeWine and Chafee were the only two Pubbies to vote against it.

Anyone have the links to the details on the amendments that passed?

Nice post, Dan, well done.

I am so glad to see Liddy Dole and Richard Burr did proud by their NC constituents.

There were a lot of Freepers who had doubts about Liddy's position on the 2nd when she first ran for her seat. It appears that she has her head screwed on right!

Thanks for the info.

I know a lot of us feel we "won" today, even though trigger locks have now been imposed on manufactures. I suppose next they will have to be permanently affixed or some other useless B.S.

Dewine, voting the wrong way, of course.

What's with these Senators from Ohio?

CRAIG AMENDMENT - Allows securing compensation from those who participate in arming criminals.

It seems this guts the entire bill because ANYTHING chan be misinterprited as "participate".

  1. Man the Gun Grabbers have been screaming, crying, and lying about this bill. And a lot more than usual. Why is that? Because this effectively cuts the head of their last best hope for bypassing the Constitution and the Bill of Rights in their jihad to disarm the American People.
  2. The trigger locks requirement: Ok, it's unconstitutional, and a further infringement on legal commerce in arms, but given what the gun grabbers wanted to tack onto this bill, it could have been worse. Most of the guns I've bought in the past five years have had some sort of trigger or action lock, and most of the trigger locks were cheap and flimsy enough to be useless, but they probably meet the new requirement. In fact, a S&W pistol came with a trigger lock that couldn't be made to fit the gun; I called them up, and their own armorer could't get it to fit either around the trigger guard either. Does the ammendment specify what qualifies as a "trigger lock"? Will the BATF be able to "interpret" this into a requirement for a mukti-thousand-dollar gun vault, or can we get away with just including a cheap one dollar luggage padlock?
  3. What is the deal with the Craig Ammendment (not 1645)? It looks bad from the description. However, given who voted for it and who voted against it, it sure looks like it's a good deal.
  4. And speaking of Craig Ammendment 1645, again what's the deal? Isn't this just keeping the whole "Armor Piercing" mythology alive? Do we really need yet another "study" on so called armor piercing bullets? Boxer and Wyden voted against it, so it might be good, but I'm unconvinced.
  5. So tell me again how Hitlery is a "moderate"? Any guesses as to what she'll be hunting (and hunting with) in the inevitable photo-op in 2007?
  6. Where the hell was Smith? On some votes, he's absent, on others he votes correctly, but on others he votes wrong. I guess it doesn't matter. He permanently lost my vote when he voted to extend the Ugly-Gun-Ban the last time this bill came around. And this sort of spineless whiffle-whaffling isn't helping him one bit.

I have not been able to find the test of amendment 1645. Can anyone help me out? I couldn't find it on Thomas.

CRAIG AMENDMENT 1645 - Increase penalties for Armor piercing ammo(current definition, not Kennedy's), study on AP ammo.

Uh-oh....Watch out for this. Anytime the Congress orders a study be done, the results almost always lead to legislation proposals, even if the study findings go against the idea of legislation.
